There's been a lot of chatter about this event & a bunch of people from AZ going, so lets see who's for sure going? & who 'might' be going?

Where: Arroyo Seco Raceway in Deming, NM ; 20030 HWY 549 SE Deming, NM 88030

When: Saturday October 17th, 2009 All day long till the sun goes down.

What: Timed Road Racing

Cost: $35 for timed sessions only or $50 for morning practice & timed sessions, includes transponder rental.

Hotels in Deming are dirt cheap under $50 per night.

Does anyone know if we are running clockwise or counter clockwise?

I just have to convince myself that my car will hold up for the long drive out there...full track day...and long drive back. I've run 5 days on it consecutively without a major problem. [knock on wood]. I used to make one out of state event per year. But I've slacked off the last few years. Haven't run that car outside of AZ since Oct 06. :(

I'm just assuming make sure your car is in good mechanical condition(no leaks, no problems, etc), is SAFE, & you have a helmet you'll be ok. Follow basic SCCA/NASA safety guidelines & I'm sure you'll be ok.

I know the track will be open the night before for people to camp out there if wanted, but I know I'm staying in the hotel :P

One thing I like about new mexico, is they honor az concealed carry permits :)

It would definitely help your cause to have attended at least one or two HPDE days prior to a timed competition. Especially because you will be on track with other guys with 1-10 years of experience under their belts.

There's alot of track etiquette and other practices that will not only keep you safe, but make you alot faster. These are only learned with experience and instruction in an high performance driving education format where you have an instructor and are on track with other guys of your same skill level to start with (read: everyone is going the same slow speed for the most part)

With that being said there a 2 day NASA event this coming weekend at PIR, sign up and get your rookie mistakes out of the way. For your sake and those who will be on track with you.... :)

Obviously, I want you to run with NASA, but for the sake of my safety and others, ANY track day prior to this event would be appreciated. ;-)

We will have the track go green at 8am. All Superlap practice until lunch, which will be 1/2 hour. Then we'll do 2 rounds of Superlap. At approximately 3:30 we'll do an hour of drift practice followed by competition.


*We tried to move the drift comp. for another day but the track is booked until december.

35 cars ran in the Time Attack! So Rad. With over 45+ cars in attendance.

Big thanks to everyone that came out to ASR on Saturday (spectating and running). I must admit it was a little crazy the first couple of sessions (so many cars on the track). Once we got the sessions figured out everything went great. A lot was learned that day and the information that will definitely be applied to future Super Lap events. Hell of a way to end the season.

Thanks to Roger and the rest of the ASR staff.

Thanks to all the out of towners that made the long journey. I will be making my way out to your local tracks in the near future.

On a different note my best lap of the day was a 1:17.2x in the morning session (Ill try and post the vid up sometime) I definitely feel my car has reached its maximum potential in its current state. Every Super Lap this year I have posted very consecutive times. Counter CW I run mid to low 1:16's and CW I run Mid to low 1:17's every competition. Over the winter I hope to make some changes to the car in quest for faster times next season. Ultimately I would love for the Evo to run 1:15's to 1:14's....
