my mph's wont mark.. HELP! peez!

Hey whats up, well just the other day i was driving and all of a sudden my MPH needle droped. And it wont work any more, my Gas, and Temp work, the MPH is the only one. Its on my DX civic (95) ... any ideas why? or what do you think or know it is? haha thanks!

x2 on that^^^ its on the tranny close to your firewall.

could either be VSS or the cluster itself....my clusters MPH gauge took a crap once and replaced the VSS when it wasnt that, it was the cluster itself.

start with VSS and then move to the cluster first as the VSS is more likely to go out before the cluster!

it a plug right on the back side ov ur tranny

not sure if its been mentioned, but i've had this same issue. Check your fuse, not sure anymore about the EG but in my EK the #15 fuse. Controls a number of different systems including the VSS. Make sure its not blown and see if that works. Should be a 7.5 amp fuse.

i have had the same problem on both civics i had. on my 92 the cluster was bad, so i got a used one off ebay and the fuel guage didnt work in it cause the laminated wiring on the back was damaged, but you can piece the good parts together from both, or call dicks speedo, i think thier in mesa, 480-994-9022, they told me like $125 to repair, just make sure thats the problem. the other time was on my 98 civic and there was corrosion in the terminal that pluged into the VSS, so it would work intermitently. heres the wiring diagramit was basically the same for my 92 and 98.mabey this will help, i couldnt figure out how to post the diag procedure. http://library.alldatapro.com/alldata/LIB~C32006~R0~OB0~P4R0H~N/0/56775861/62725078/62725101/62725102/34853741/34857029/34860042/34860045/142090080/83245410

Ya except the trip to the junkyard, cost of parts, and time lost during the previously stated will have all been a waste once he realizes his harness is bad and the plugs aren't making connection anymore either due to incorrectly being unplugged or corrosion of a combination of both.


So since he said he's already tried a different cluster and still didn't work, try other things!

u just need to unscrew ur speed sensor and put it bak on n make sure its in dere like tap it in den tighten it if no good just check the top row on ur fuse box
