View Full Version : How do I get a Y80 LS tranny case off?

I need to look inside an Ls tranny I got because it threw something thru the case. I removed all of the vertical 12mm bolts,it doesn't seem to want to seperate like its held up on something. Any help greatly appreciated TIA.

there is a BIG ass plug that you fit a half-inch ratchet inside and loosten it up. Pull that plug out and inside is a c-clip or snap ring. open that up while pulling up on the case and it should come up as long as you pulled the two or three 12mm bolts that hold the balls that are horizontal compared to the rest and the reverse shaft bolt

Is it possible to buy just single gears for the tranny? The largest gear has 3 teeth shattered and the lowest small gear in the stack closest to the largest gear has 4 teeth missing. If I can just buy those two gears it would be fine.

ya id say just buy another ls tranny.. or upgrade to a b16 tranny
