Headlights wont turn on!!

SOO my headlights wont turn on! I turned them on only one came on so i turned it off and back on and now they wont turn on at all. I just got back from phoenix getting my car .. fixed.. and i had a wire tuck done and i guess my tire has been rubbing against the wires and pretty much split them. Anybody know how to fix this?? help! (ITS NOT THE FUSES I ALREADY CHECKED) :bigsmile:

you need to find where the exposed wires are rubbing on your body and probably grounding out and fix it.

Disconnect your battery before you begin.
Begin to search through your wiring job looking for ANY signs of scuffed up or messed up wire coating. If it was your tire that split them, and the person who did your tuck told you that might be it, first ask why the wires weren't properly secured so that no rubbing would happen, or ask why they didn't check to make sure nothing was rubbing if you have large tires/wheels and you know you rub often. Then, check by your tires for exposed wiring, then, check EVERYWHERE else they touched.After you've found all exposed wire, cover them up by either electrical tape(please don't!), or by shrink wrapping(aka heat shrinking?) the exposed wire. You can do that either by disconnecting the wire(s) at its source if possible, or cutting it at the exposed part, soldering it back together after you slipped the heat shrink on one of the now two wires you have, then heating it up to cause it to shrink and now be insulated.


Before you try to turn the lights on, Check both your low beams bulbs, and if you have tried to hit the Hi's and they don't work, check those bulbs too.
Replace any that are bad, and then reconnect your batter and try it out. Please check all the wiring for lights thouroghly though so you don't miss one and fry another bulb or fuse this time.

if one tire rubbed one side off, isnt it possible same thing happened on the other side?

there are several reasons i can think of, but i forget half of the reasons why it happens the way it does, so ill answer if its not fixed after you do that.

do u have a dmm? Or even a test light should work. Trace the wires, find where the volatge goes bye bye and voila theres your bad wire
