So I noticed a crack on my stock exhaust manifold, it then occurred to me that was reason for my car sounding like shit when I step on the gas to drive. Long story short I'm in the market for a new header, any suggestions?????? Has anyone heard of OBX Racing and if so what's the diagnosis on them. I'm not trying to go too big performance wise I only have a D17A1 so I'm pretty limited.....open to ideas:)

Shitty part is that your cat is also a part of your mani. There are NO power gains with ANY exhaust on that econobox. Switch to an A2 exhaust and then throw on a cat back. Spend the rest of the money you saved on hookers and blow.

so all in all if i wanna swap my mani it's gonna be a lot more complicated than just a change out?

Kinda. On Ex's we have an o2 in the downpipe and in the cat on the back of the downpipe. Your cat is right there, so worst case scenario you have to purchase a new header, downpipe, and extend your 02 wiring. The rest remains the same.

If you just want the sound, put an OEM header/downpipe on and just buy a catback. I had a DC Sport and it sounded good when I was boosted and N/A.

so what if i piece it out and buy a new header first and see what else is needed, is there much for me to worry about if i piece it first

Your downpipe won't match. You at least need a header/downpipe. Check out civicforums.com and search the 7thgencivic area. You'll find a DIY I bet.

i have a lx not an ex though, from what i've heard, an ex header won't directly bolt onto a lx civic because they're a couple inches different from eachother

No the HEADER is different meaning it won't bolt to the LX DOWNPIPE. Header and downpipe HAVE TO MATCH.

this is actually a pretty big issue. if you have less than 80k miles then it will be covered under warrenty. i have the same issue. however, i have 166k on my car :( so no free fix for me.
