Temp gauge - how to test?

My temperature gauge quit workin on me recently in my eg. Fan stills cycles on and off.

I replaced temp sensor on the head. Nothing. So I moved on thinking faulty cluster. And I replaced that.

Is there a fuse for the little guy? Or what are the next steps I can take to figure out what is causing this? If I jump the plug off the head will that tell me anything? like should it spike hot on the gauge? Just dont want to damage anything.

You need to change the temp switch it has one wire its onthe head by wateroutlet. There are two temp senors and one temp switch.

if you find out why im interested mine works in my eg but when i hit the gas it fall down to cold... my fan still comes on too
