i would say ur best bet is hitting up the mk4 forum in vwvortex.com, and say what motor/tranny it has. they should know about that

alright so we figured out the wire prob... but now its starting but idles for maybe a sec then dies... tryd giving it gas it still dies.... so we sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it stayed idling as long as we spryd then would die... so we think it might be a fuel delivery prob.... any more ideas would be great... and thanks man ill try that too

Is this still happening? What motor is in the car? It could be the MAF try unplugging it and starting the car.

get a wiring diagram for that circuit, check for a short. Make sure the sensors pertaining to that circuit are working to spec, and injectors. But need more info, like was something done to the car before this problem happened? The more info, the better I can help!

was hoping you an aircooled problem. check for the security light like efNb16 said.....some cars will deactivate the factory alarm by unlocking the car manually from driver door, locking will arm.

Check this fuse block located near the battery. They are notorious for failure...corrosion, melting etc.

Pic below is not my car. Disregard that relay.

Yea those are. Our shop makes a jumper from the battery to the alternator
To help with the resistace load.

those always get jacked up when people tinker with that.
