I don't know shit about photography but it seems something that I would be interested in doing. I went to Costco to buy chicken and I walked out with this camera. I'm interested in hearing opinions about it. The main purpose for this camera is to take pictures of bicycle races and I plan on going to watch the Tour De France and I wanted a good camera to take pictures of the cyclist going 35 mph. Please click on the link below to check out the specs and I would be interested in feedback.

not a bad camera for the money. has a nice CMOS sensor so you'll be good to shoot things at a bit higher ISO if needed. I'd advise on getting a better lens and then working from there. That's probably the cheapest DSLR that you can buy that also does video (only 720 though).

I'd advise picking up a sports photography book and reading it cover to cover 2-3 times before you go to the Tour De France with it. If you don't know the camera and what it's capable of then there is no use in buying one just to use it as a point and shoot.

Also, read the manual a few times too. it'll help out quite a bit.

Also, this site is quite helpful once you've read the manual and understand what they are talking about in the reviews.

Thanks...Also I had several friends say they would only buy a canon. Do you feel the same way?

No, when it comes to these entry level kind of Cameras and the things you'll be doing with it, you won't notice a difference. Both Canon and Nikon have great quality. Hell I shoot Sony and it seems to work out for me. GOOD Nikon lenses are more expensive than good Canon glass but I doubt you'd be buying the real high end glass with that camera anyways. Just get yourself a decent zoom lens and a 50mm 1.8 and you'll be plenty happy for quite some time.

pure street pretty much hit it all on the head. the camera is a good entry level dslr, especially with the video (wish my d60 had that)...get a 55-200 lense (or something similar) you'll love it.

any camera could capture that kind of pictures
hell a D40 could do it and i cant believe im saying it a EOS could do the job equally as well

its all about teh glass and preference at your level.

Hell yeah Nikon FTW. Just found a buyer for all my Canon gear so a D3S, 70-200 F2.8 VRII and 14-24 F2.8 is on the way as soon as B&H gets the D3S in!
