Vtec bogging/not engaging

My gsr is bogging down when I hit vtec from 5500 to 6000 then from around 7300 until I shift itll go in and out of vtec. Could it be the tune on it? what could be the problem?

try seeing the condition of the vtec solenoids seal and what not

wait, wat?

check your oil level
check your vtec solenoid screen
assuming you don't have any Check Engine Lights, swap out an ecu with a known working one and see if it fixes it.
I've personally experienced the same problem when a chip in an ecu was bad.

oils fine, ill check the solenoid tomorrow, no check lights and ive swapped it out with 3 different ecus one from a b20v, and one chipped p72 and and a virgin p72 they make a huge difference but its like they all make the motor stop accelerating around 6k kinda like a rev limiter but the ecus are fine on the cars they are usually on. so I thought it was the timing of my car or something. sorry if its hard to understand
