air compressor and gun. im almost sure you will not be able to do it by hand. find a tire shop to zap it off real quick.

I have a dumb question.... why do you need to get the crank pulley off? You're having the head milled and it's off??

replacing timing belt and water pump. cant remove the timing belt cover, if the crank pulley is on

Ok, well honestly only two ways are using a really long breaker bar or impact gun...

lol no neither of those will work, trust me on this one....

You need a crank pully tool, its a big nut thing that bolts right there to the frame to hold it still, and then you must use some kinda of penitrating oil to loosen it up and have at it with a socket.

the crank on the motor doesnt have that hex on the inside to hold that tool it's completely round. motor is a d15bvtec

Take the tranny dust cover thing off so u can see the flywheel. Wedge a really really really strong screwdriver or a mini crobar in there then try an get it off. Or air tools....they save alotta work!

if you put something in your flywheel be sure not to fuck it up. and your problem is that your reducing it down to 3/8 you need to stay with 1/2 or even go bigger

agreed the tools your using aren't heavy duty enough if you keep fucking shit up just make sure you buy some craftsman tools so when you break em you can exchange them for new stuff for free.

Dam bro I had this exact problem on my car! I broke sockets and extensions.. took it to a tire shop and they couldn't get it off even with the strongest gun. Soo I whent to a shop and this is what some guy told me, GET THE BIGGEST BREAKER BAR YOU HAVE WITH THE SOCKET, JAM IT TO THE FLOOR OR ON THE FRAME OF THE CAR IN THE DIRECTION THAT THE BOLT LOOSENS UP AND CRANK THE CAR..
The cranking shoult loosen up the bolt! That worked for me.. and if that don't work then I guess your fucked eh!

-use 1/2" shit
-make sure youre turning the right direction
-the engine turns counterclockwise so using the starter wont work
-put the car in gear with the ebrake on, wedge the tires, get a giant breaker bar if you cant get to an impact gun
-good luck

pry bar in the ring gear of the flywheel, ram it up in there, put the car in fifth, leave the passenger side tire on the ground, have someone mash on the break, and use a 36" breaker bar with an extension and a jackstand to hold the extension in place.

if you took the head off with the engine still in the car, you can take the trans off while you're at it.

do so...and then put an open-ended wrench between a dowel on the flywheel and a bolt for the bellhousing of the trans...

crank isn't going anywhere...

aaaand WIN.

if you need a pic of such method, i can supply...

wedge a couple of screw drivers in at the flywheel to lock it up.. and then use a breaker bar for the bolt...me and my brother did this and worked like a charm...did no harm to the flywheel either...gl

you could always unbolt the pressure plate and wedge it using one of the bolts, we do this in the junkyard lol...

breaker bar doesnt work snapped 2, 1/2 to 3/8 adapters already l

quit buying tools made from china

if the only thing that is off the car is the head, put the car in gear and have someone step on the breaks while you take the crank bolt off.

You need leverage so get a metal pipe at least 3 feet long and move that bitch.

I have tried to remove crank bolts with impact wrenches at 190 psi and all the bitch does is shake :pissed:

Im fairly sure, this post is irrelevant as the car is running :)

if you absolutely have to, try to wedge something inbetween the flywheel and bellhousing the keep the lower end from moving when you go to loosen the bolt.

so you are sayin your front brakes cannot withstand a 150-200lb guy dangling from a 6foot breaker bar???
beg to differ.
