If Costas buys oranges at 5 for 2 cents and sells them at 4 for three cents, how many must he sell to make a profit of 420 cents?

buys 5 oranges @ 2 cents

sells for 4 @ 3 cents

so it becomes buy 20 @ 8 cents

sell 20 @ 15 cents

7 cent profit

x 60 oranges = 420 cents.

numerator just means the top part of the fraction
in this instance the fraction represented a ratio. that made it easier to solve for me.
