Hope everyone else's April Fool's Day is going better than mine! (crx crashed!)

Now, I warn you fellow Y49'ers, beholders of the legend that is only known to us...Today is a sad day. For I am tasked with two options:

a) Leave the car as is and part it out, decreasing the y49's family by 1

or

b) Try to pick up the pieces and repair the car.

Now for the story.


I had numerous things I was going to have put on by my local body shop. I had agreed to drop the car off and have my girlfriend pick me up.

Long story short, I decided to go sooner with my Dad in the morning while my girlfriend was still sleeping and we were in rush hour traffic.

Things were good until the freeway merged from 5 lanes into 4, and the cars in front of me locked up their breaks, I locked up mine. A speeding yellow Porsche behind me flew by my left side, blocking my escape...

The rest, as they say...is history...

The ironic thing is I was on my way to a body shop for stuff on the rear of the car, EDM spoiler, etc. And this happened. I think I got about 1 week's use out of that passenger headlight..

Strangely, I'm not too sad. I'm actually excited. I now have reasons to buy the stuff I've been wanting to buy for my car. :) I can finally get my 90-91 Front Bumper (even though I love the 88-89, I need to put these DLAA's to good use) and I can repaint my car and get rid of my dented hood.

Hopefully you guys will be seeing some updates soon. I'm kinda lucky to not even be scratched. Especially seeing my Sub Box flew through my cargo cover and is resting behind my seat.

Funny thing is the guy we hit was a wanted criminal and his boss must have called in the cops (I hit a company car) and they took his ass away.

I got work in 8 hours, I really need my sleep.

So far I as I can tell, I need:
Headlights
Bumper lights/Corners
Bumper Support
Tbar
Radiator Support
Radiator
AC Compressor/Radiator (I had working AC and with Arizona Summer around the corner this sucks!)
Driver Side Fender

I'm not one to turn and run on my car when things get messy man. I wanna see if I can salvage this and come back better than before. That's just me though. I gotta take a closer look at the body. If the frame is warped, then yeah, it's a write off. But I'd hate today being my last day in this car.

Haha Krenz. It's ok man. I'm hoping I can revive her from this and there isnt enough damage to the body that I can't drive her straight again after all this.

I'd love for it to only be about $400 but that's a pipe dream...
Healights alone are about $150, Bumper and Corner Lights $60, Radiator $100-150, Fender and Hood about $250-300.

We'll see though. If anyone see's any parts I need for sale somewhere let me know.

Nah man you're fine. but what's funny is alot of stuff I've been joking about lately has been coming to fruition. I joked about it never being in an accident for the two years I had it last night while I was eating Sushi, and this happened. I know where a Y49 shell is sitting in an abandoned car lot. If you track down the holders of the deed to the land they will probably have the title to the crx too. PM me if you want some details, but I will have to drive down and get the number anyway haha

Damned cursed cars!!! the past piece from our Y-49 that my girlfriend found she took it ran out the back and chucked it into the road... lol. I think that shows my experience with Y-49's.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I appreciate your support. As of right now I took off most of the shit on the front end today. (Bumper, Bumper Support, tbar) but the core support was crushed around the radiator and compressor for my AC so I'm trying to get that removed soon with a come-along and pull it out. I'll have pics of progress soon!

As it stands I'm still looking for a Password JDM front end but nobody has them handy and Password wants $3k for it :ghey:

the link I post for I think it was $1500 from PWjdm on last post was used for that price not new so basically $600 more to get new one. I say buy the use one from PWJDM your getting it painted to y49 anyways ;)

sup all, long since updates. car is almost done and I will hopefully have it tomorrow. The shop wanted to charge $6000 to do everything for my car (straighten frame rail, do a few other misc jobs and paint it) and I talked them down to a lower price. saw the car today and I'm pretty stoked. they are recharging the car's AC and I should be getting it back tomorrow and then paint will follow!
