my friend was telling me that DMV stop issuing the blue plate for HOV lane driving for the hybrid vehicles. Is it true? I don't seem to be able to find that on DMV site.

here is the article. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2008/05/19/20080519hybridplates0519.html

that kind of sucked. It would have been a nice perk to be able to drive in the HOV lane. It looked like they stopped a couple years ago. You could always get a motorcycle.

My roommate has one on his Prius. From what he has said is they only issued 10,000 of the plates which were snatched up rather quickly a few years back.

If you currently have one, you can transfer it to another qualifing car. He had one Prius, it was totaled in a wreck. He transferred the plate to the Prius he bought as a replacement.

Also from what he has said, you can not transfer it though to a new owner.
