i find this is very useful for ppl that dont want to use the block gaurd that block up coolant from flowing.

oh i see so i have an LS/VTEC and bout to change my head gasket soon. what should i really use? a LS gasket? or GSR gasket? keep in mind i bought my car with an LS/VTEC in it already so i donno much bout those.

According the the internet, you can use either. Ls, you need to remove the rivets and gsr/typer/b16 just drops in.

Both gaskets are the same price, so I would go with vtec gasket.

You can buy one from IPH. They over bore a stock one to what ever size you want. I got one at 85.


Golden eagle also sells them.

With the lsv b2v you should always use the block for the headgasket.

And a block gaurd isn't going to hold back coolant as the head gasket is only going to allow same amount of flowage. Block guard is all in how you install it.

And the ls and b20 stock pistons should have the valve reliefs cut open to allow better piston to valve clearence.

All stock rods should be re-sized with arp studs. Headstuds to.

B20 pistons from RS machines have lots of room in their valve reliefs, even with oversized valves, decked head and block I had minimum .035" piston to valve clearance...iirc the "proper" for a street motor is .030"

int/exh valves .5mm over
Head -.006"
Block -.006"
oem HG
RS Machines 85mm "type R replica" Cast pistons advertised 11.7:1 cr, 1.3cc dome(please correct me if im wrong)
Sk2 pro2 cams (measured P to V at all feasible cam gear settings)

Another Note:
Using oversized valves with Sk2 Pro2s and other very aggressive cams will most likely cause Valve to valve clearance issues unless you play with the valve margin profiles so be careful, do research, and measure alot.

All the above info is for B20vtax plz use accordingly

I installed mine with ARP without resizing. Is that bad? should i had resized em? i didnt really get that....

ARP recommends you have them resized, but i've seen plenty without it still running strong thousands of miles later
