Stand the head on the intake side and pour some fluid through the exhaust ports, if you see it leaking out of the valves i would suggest a valve job.

So did mine, when it was vacuum tested there was also carbon in the seats and the valve wasn't sitting right. But if you just wanna clean it off, scotch bright pad.

First off I am a perfectionist and made sure this came out perfect to eliminate all worry of something messing up. Second its a very time consuming process. It will take you more than a couple hours.
1) I used gasoline and a tooth brush. Just scrub the ports with the gasoline soaked tooth brush until the carbon begins to loosen. Continue to scrub until there is no carbon on the ports.
2) I then used a air compressor to make sure no residue was left within.
3) Then go over everything you cleaned with a clean shop towel damp with gasoline as well. This will clean up whatever is left of the carbon on the ports.
Right now my head is back on the car now and it runs just fine.

Didn't say you were wrong or right. Just that you screwed up the coding on the quote somehow.

That What i do when the engine is together but when I have it apart I close the valves and let them soak in carb cleaner.

I open a bottle of nitrous onto one compression chamber at a time. Seems to work wonders.

New valves wins!!!
That's what I had to do when 7 of the 8 exhaust valves were bad. I took mine to a place called o rackleys off of main and lindsey. Just east of Lindsey on the south side. Best prices I found ever. And I love what they did to my head! Haha

New valves for sure. I just replaced all mine with Blackworks. Got a great price at RMS USA.
