1. are ls and b20 cranks the same?
2. b20v with b16 crank. pros and cons? what needs to be done to make it work?
3. b16 with b20 crank. same questions...
if im not mistaken they all use the same size bearings and the b16 has a shorter stroke.

if anyone knows of any links to any builds that would be helpful

Sigh. Post got deleted.

Yes ls and b20 cranks are the same.

No you cant use b16/b20 combos.

Plenty of B20 CRVTEC write ups online.

false.
b16 crank in a b20 block you would need rods from or equivalent in length to the B21a rods
You would have a torqueless screamer only good past 4k rpm. Below that it spends to much time chillin at tdc to get the air movin

B20/Ls crank in a B16 you may have some issues at the bottom of the bores.
you would have a horrible r/s ratio and shitty powerband.

b18c crank in B20 block? yes and a good way to stick with mostly oem bottom end to spin up to 9k.

B17 crank in B20? Yes plz. You need custom rods

You need to stick an ls crank in a sleeved 84m b16 block with custom rods and pistons and just tell people you have a "b16" hahaha

this is a set up i thought about building for a road race civic. but never got to see if it works. b20 block with rs spec 84mm itr pistons on b16b ctr rods and a b16a crank. from what i've read a b16b block is the same height as a gsr,b18,b20 block. and it uses a b16a crank. and the b16b rods r suppose to be longer to make up the difference for stroke. my only question or problem i see is the ctr piston. i think the wrist pin sits lower than a normal b-series piston.

i have an ls crank in my b16a. you need to delete the oil squirters due to clearance issues and it requires custom pistons. i have not dyno'd it since it was rebuilt but it laid down 198 whp on neptune with skunk cams back when it was in james connor's crx

did you use b16 or ls rods?

Rods and pistons are both custom. The rods for length and pistons with wrist pin height and skirt clearance.

I'm not sure that the counter weights on the ls crank clear the b16 crankcase. I know crower makes the bottom end kit for the b16 sleeved.

I did one a few yrs back with the endyn 85x89 rotating assm. Which is the crower kit with custom wiseco piston. RocketMotorsports head tuned on Zdyne by joe. I made 240whp on 109oct. It was in a red 86 old school crx autocross car. Shit ripped.

from what sweet dreams said and what i have looked at about what he said its do-able.
i have the basic starting point since my friend need an ls/b20 crank, and i want to rebuild my motor.
i could sell him my crank and buy a b16, since i was gonna replace the rods and pistons either way.
from what sweet dreams said i would buy b16b rods and custom b16b 84mm pistons.
im sure there is more to it than that so im still gonna do more reserch on it...

thanks for the help everyone
