check your throttle body thes a screw on the top it should be brass make sure it still there and not lose it controls your idle. also check the tention of your throttle cable. is there any thing else you did to it?

turbo-da
10-28-2010, 11:06 AM
can it b my iacv

hatch520
10-28-2010, 11:12 AM
it depends in the gun if it has an advance or not if its has advance you need to line it up with the 3 marks that are together set the gun to 16 degrees advanced and line it up with the middle 1 it should be white. line that line up with the mark on your lower timing belt cover

turbo-da
10-28-2010, 11:16 AM

hatch520
10-28-2010, 12:39 PM
best thing to do is let it cool off and and double check all your marks on the crank, cam sprokets are lining up

turbo-da
10-28-2010, 12:53 PM

hatch520
10-28-2010, 12:58 PM

hatch520
10-28-2010, 12:58 PM
yeah the arrow on your lower timing belt cover

turbo-da
10-28-2010, 01:03 PM
timing gun a 0 it b for the 0 mark put gun to 7 mark is on 0 thats far off 16

hatch520
10-28-2010, 01:06 PM
yeah set it to 16 adv and see how for its off and if moving the dizzy fixes it. your dizzy should be right in the middle. if its not your timing belt is off somewhere

try and swap out the dizzy for a known good one see if it improves at all

Mr.Burner
10-28-2010, 11:19 PM
Yes swap out the dizy with another one, also did you check your valve lash adjustment after cam install? Not sure if that would effect idle but you should adjust anyway.

What about fuel pressure? You have a gauge and regulator on that thing?

turbo-da
10-29-2010, 05:09 PM
did all that but win i unplug the map it idles

hatch520
10-29-2010, 05:24 PM
take off your intake hose and cover the hole you see inside your throttle body see if that does any thing

turbo-da
10-29-2010, 05:44 PM
wants to die win map unpluged

hatch520
10-29-2010, 06:11 PM
did you try what i posted with the map plugged in?

hatch520
10-29-2010, 06:18 PM
what intake manifold are you running on this motor?
is it obdo or obd1?
do you have any codes?

turbo-da
10-29-2010, 06:29 PM
gsr obd1. it dose not idle

hatch520
10-29-2010, 06:30 PM
it dies?

hatch520
10-29-2010, 06:51 PM
well next step is take off your IACV and see if it plugged
you can even bypass it by taking it off and cutting a peice of gasket material (the blue one from autozone is the one i use) and putting it between the IACV and the intake manifold make sure you cover both holes and then tighten the bolts back down snug.

turbo-da
10-29-2010, 07:28 PM
what is the intake air bypast ?

hatch520
10-29-2010, 07:47 PM
iacv is the idle air control valve is on the back of your intake manifold should look like this

remember to do ur valve/lash adjustments wen u install the cams. then follow everything else he says. even off by a tooth will change the action of the motor alot. good luck to u and hope it work out right after everything is done right.

oh shit i didnt click for the last page. didnt kno mr. burner posted it up already.

fRoSt
10-29-2010, 10:06 PM
btw. try this! take ur intake and clamps off. screw the idle control screw all the way in, then cover the throttle body as much as u can. if it dies then urs is not a vacuum leak. if it doesnt then u got a leak somewhere in there. if the iacv doesnt work then take ur ficv off and clean it if u do have one.
