I notice VERY few people squat in my gym, and if they do, they do 1" squats. It seems like the majority of people do chest and biceps every damn day. Most of the people that do train legs, do leg extensions, while talking on their cell phone.

I personally have had to back off legs for the last year(knee), but today decided to do some heavy box squats, and I forgot how much I love squatting heavy. Nothing gets the blood pumping like some intense sets of squats. And my knee felt great.

So what does your leg routine look like? What is your favorite movement?

Have you ever tried a lower volume approach to training?

i just do a lil:

3x15- med weight deep squat
4x4- high weight dead lift
5x5(each leg)- high weight lunges
2x20- lo weight front squat
then finish with
3x10 45lb plate weighted sumo hops--

pretty fuckin phenomenal---
other days i do 1 legged assisted squats, calf raises, and weighted step ups
within 60 days on my lil custom made routine i've added about 5-6inches to my vertical...feel pretty amazing about that

Just less volume, less work sets, etc. That doesn't look like a "ton" of volume, but a moderate amount.

Just curious if you ever trained with a low volume routine, and if so what your results were. A lot of people with avg genetics, and hard gainers, seem to do better with less volume. I know I personally do.

Something like the first 3 routines here:

I HATE working out my legs. But I know it's necessary. I do squats, lunges with dumbells, leg press and hack squat. I like compound excercises more than isolation ones.

And I tend to do deadlifts on my back days.

i have to stick to the machines cause of my knee but before i loved squats. i still hit my legs hard just cant do a normal squat unless its only like 135. i get some hack squats in. but most of my legs now is on machines, leg press, curls, calfs, others presses haha. but hopefully next year ill be back hitting the squat rack!
