I've had my car about 25k miles I changed all the fluids right when I got it and put sychromesh in it drove the car 10-15 changed it again to synchromesh. Last week I put amsoil mtf in and it kinda felt like it was rough/notchy and I was like wtf so I decided to put the s/m back in and it feels great again I was just wondering if there is another god or better mtf

Car is 03 s2k

amsoil should work good. we sell that up here. check w/ there web site, and make sure the specs are correct tho. i know w/ differentials we have to use a additive that other companies already so they may not have a certain additive in place. i could be wrong, but double check tho.

The consensus is that GM Synchromesh is the best haha

in an s2k i would run honda fluid

its not like you change diff fluid very often so $$ shouldnt be a concern

that being said i run pennzoil syncromesh in my billion mile EF and its still $7 a quart fml

I ran Redline MT90 in my AP1 trans for about 200k miles before I swapped it out for an AP2 trans. I'm running the Amsoil in the diff/AP2 trans now, and am not sure how I like it. I'll probably switch back to the Redline for the next change.

Honda MTF here. Though the idiots at honda put the wrong stuff in there when i bought my car :(. I changed all my fluids after 3,000 miles of my purchase. They told me they did ALL the fluids, diff and all. My transmission fluid came out pitch black *sigh*. I wondered why it didn't feel smooth.

GM Syncromesh Friction Modified eliminated grinding in my H series trans. I had a nasty grind above 2.5k and its gone now. Its 11 bucks a quart though...but well worth it

I wouldn't use anything above a 10w30 wt. I tried using Redline MTL and that shit screwed up my mainshaft bearings so bad, it sounded like I was driving a straight cut gear tranny. Gear noise in EVERY gear after 3-4k miles...I'm never using that shit again.

I actually use Castrol 20w-50 in my tranny....Honda MTF likes to leak out

As for the Diff...I use SatyLube API GL+4 hypoid LSD from NAPA

I have put over 50000 miles on my S2000 in 2 years and I have over 2000 miles of that on the local road courses......

I got the shit that was recommended by the website and dealer... And why would I be putting LSD oil in a tranny?

even tho the 75w-90 GL5 i scompatible for most ford and dodge rear diffs we still have to use limited slip , just because of noise reduction and also gringing.

As far as I know the additives are for clutch type LSDs not Torsen like the S2000, not sure if it would hurt but definitely isn't needed

Anyone use BG Syncroshift? I have used it in past cars with very good results.

I am debating going with that or the GM.

I plan on using Amsoil 75/140 in the diff.

Joeque123- Which Amsoil did you use? The 75w-90, or the 5w-30 syncromesh?

You should know better than to spam the S2000 forum, nobody looks here. GM Syncromesh FTW.

Just switched back to the Redline MT90 this weekend and shifts like BUTTA, also put Redline back in the diff and no more groaning in the morning.

They say that gm and the pennzoil syncromesh are exactly the same thing and many other forums say to use the bg syncroshift because its better than the other too but also alot more expensive

I haven't changed a single fluild in my car yet. I need to do the tranny and diff this weekend though.

It leaves an awful smell in my garage after I drive it. Has to be one of the two.

I ran Royal Purple synchromesh in my CL-S6 for about 10k and it ran great. Went back to Honda MTF two weekends ago and it feels notchier now, I'll probably change it back to the Royal Purple soon.

flushing with Penzoil and then going to GMSychroMesh friction modified for winter. Then to redline for summer me thinks. Amsoil 75-90 for rear diff for now, 75-110 for summer unless someone convinces me otherwise...
