2013 ASR Super Lap Mega Thread. Rules, Dates, etc

All right guys this going to be the be the mega thread for any and all 2013 ASR Super Lap items (few exceptions of course) If you have any questions or wanna share stuff post here please.

Here are the 2013 dates:

March 23rd
April 27th
June 15th "night event"
August 10th "night event"
September 28th
November 16th "Super Lap Final"

I decided to drop our 2 day event due to poor attendance, I also added 1 more night event to the schedule (hot during the summer months).

There are no rule changes regarding our power/weight classification.

A vehicles class is determined by its weight DIVIDED by its peak HP (W/H=Class)
• TA-A: 15.00 and up
• TA-B: 14.99 to 10.00
• TA-C: 09.99 and below

Please hang tight about new changes concerning "other" rules, I am hoping to have a Super Lap meeting sometime in February.

1- One race drop allowed per season (excludes final event)
2-Class A, B and C must run a “DOT Legal Tire”
3- Down-classing of vehicles are NOT allowed, up-classing is allowed
a. Acceptable: TA-A declared as TA-B, TA-B declared as TA-C
b. Non-acceptable: TA-C declared as TA-B, TA-B declared as TA-A
4- No passengers allowed in any vehicle competing in the Time Attack
5-Vehicles may add ballast, but are limited to a maximum amount of 250 lbs
6- ASR Super Lap officials reserves the right to perform any compliance checks that they deem
necessary, including but not limited to the following:
a. GPS Compliance System
b. “Sealing” a vehicle to check compliance
c. Weighing

Hmmmm well I have tire options.......but my power to weight is 25:1.......full interior EG with SOHC NON-VTEC!!!! DX gearing...........DOH!!

But I'm looking for tires and hitting dead ends.....

1st: paid for and ordered Kumho XS's......nationwide back order said kumho outta cali....

My tire guy looked for other options and the RS3 is good, but will it get here on time....or I can go Nitto NT01 but then I'm not within Sub Class A rules........

I have old Toyo RA1's I can use...........but I mean old yet sticky...haha

It's going to be tough to regain my podium points spot in Class A. Exactly how does the point system work?

Who do I contact about ASR website corrections and additions? In the march event I, Justin Smith, was driving the Acura Integra 4dr gsr not the lotus. I used the lotus transponder because mine wasn't working at all during the day before the ta. Also for more details, Chris Wilbanks was driving the lotus exige s. Jose Bonillas was driving a Honda Civic.

Yes in Deming. They also give an Arroyo Seco / Southwest motorsports discount! just under $60 a night per room. we usually put 2-3 people in a room to save costs.

Great track day!

Driving CW was unexpected (I thought we were scheduled to run CCW), but definitely fun learning the track all over again! I love the esses - bus stop stretch100x more going CW. The Yucca is the only turn that I hated going CW all day. CCW I don't like the esses but the rest seems to flow better.

Driving at night proved more difficult than expected for me. I messed up during the time attack pretty badly both hot laps, missed a couple apexs, braking points, and even went two wheels during the first hot lap :(. The cooler temps really helped my tires and power (butt dyno), but I was just failing all over the place in the dark. I'm confident with similar temperatures in the day time my same set up I would break way into the 1:24 range.



Jose did work this weekend! Hat's off for helping Chris out and surviving the heat all weekend! Hopefully you didn't break your civic again... WATCH YOUR TEMPERATURES!!! Your going to blow the HG if your not more cautious. Tell Chris he did great for never being on track before or driving your car before!


Brandon, definitely a lot of improvement this weekend! The new sway bar set up will help a lot, as will more seat time or a better car (cough your "track car").

Harry and crew, nice to meet you guys, looks like everyone had fun!

Robert, great job handling your snap oversteering s2000! A lot of improvement, your skills are progressing nicely!

Carlos, get your crx running already so you can actually drive! You can only learn so much in the passenger seat!

1 of these days ill get a camber kit and get a real alignment setup. CTR trans sounds baller. I put a progress front sway bar on feels good now especially since 1 of the bushings on the stock 1 was gone lol.

HOWEVER....we cooked the brakes this weekend at FIR East w/ProAutoSports......need 4 rotors turned and some odds and ends on the car...nothing MAJOR, but I have no time.......

Plus the trailer tires....truck/rigg registration...and then SEMA when I get back....... sucks!! I really wanna go, but $1,000.00 for 1 trip is out of the question!!

Working 50hrs this week too....again my FULL TIME JOB gets in the way of my PART TIME RACING!! GRRRR

Yeah different 5th gear and a full rebuild with some heat treating done to it.

Got the oil changed in the NSX last night just need to bleed brakes a wash and I am done.

My truck is ready, just need to get a trailer.

My hatch is on hold. I have $4,737.00 into it to date and need an estimated $5520 to finish it with all race group / safety gear etc.

Whitey (my turbo integra) still has a lot of work & testing to be done before she is worthy of an out of state trip or track event.

My four door GSR has retired to only daily driving. Spring rates are back to soft & many aftermarket parts have been removed/sold.

Finances have sucked lately & the benjamins just aren't lining up for me to make the trip.

Next year will be better...

The 23rd is going to be a regular round of the ASR Super Lap series (points etc). On the 24th the ASR Rally/track attack is going down, it will include running the full course, short course and drag racing. Format for classes will follow normal ASR Super Lap rules (A, B, C). Times from all three events will be combined and the lowest overall combined time will win.

This event is gonna be crazy fun! Do your part and spread the word and lets make this one a fun one.
