I have two amps 1 pioneer 600w and one 800w

and 2 12 inch infinity subs in a box

im wondering once it gets to its max volume or whatever is that because the amps arent enough or the subs arent?

would i be better off with a really good set of 10s, or a good set of 12s cause i know infinity isnt the best

thanks

i would go with a JL Audio amp even just a 500:1 mono block amp. cheap price and can handles tons of power. as for the subs, Kicker Comps can handle pretty hard and clean bass i would go with 12's for these subs. not too expensive and well worth the money. just buy a nice box or even build a custom box to your vehicles specs to get the most bass from your system and vehicle.

my friend has this exact same setup in his truck and bumps harder than any other system I've heard.

The issue to address is what are you displeased with? If it's sound quality at that volume, look at RMS, not watts. Clean low power trumps dirty high power.

Buy the JL 1000/1 for sale on here.

I would be more inclined to believe that there is an issue with the setup, or the way the subs/amps/HU is wired then the subs not hitting hard enough.

However the box is not ported could that be causing it

Nope, ported or sealed they should be more than loud enough.

Check the wiring of the subs to the amp. Make sure you have them wired properly to get the desired impedance., and with the correct polarity.

If you have one sub connected positive and the other negative; you could have a phase issue. Try switching the leads on one of the subs and see if it gets louder.

Pioneer amps are junk, so that might be your problem as well. Pioneer head units are junk too... low voltage preouts, and the preouts like to crap out and invite a ton of noise into your system.
