So what clutches are you guys running? I can feel mine starting to wear/slip and would like some info on clutches that you guys run...ACT, Exedy, Competion? Any info would be helpful thanks!

I have absolutely no experience with S2k, but I have used Exedy,ACT and Competition.

1 Exedy

2 Comp

3 ACT

Comp was the most expensive that I owned, It had a good solid linear feel, but it was an absolute pain to drive in traffic, literally. It never slipped, but in the end the throw out bearing let go wearing out the fingers on the pressure plate, therefore not fully engaging and causing it not to go in gear.

I had a lower level ACT and it was fine, but car was stolen and didn't really abuse it that much. How ever my friend had one and it was stiff as fawk with a lot of kick back to it so it was super hard to modulate.

By far the best one I had was a cheap Exedy replacement I bought from Ebay for less than hundred dollars shipped. Like the other clutches, it was on a two liter gsr on eight psi and 17's. Six months of abuse, abuse, abuse and never slipped. Even when i took it out to replace the engine it look good, so i re sold it.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info, I've had an Exedy on my previous prelude and it held up against nitrous and abuse but I didn't own it for long with the clutch. My friend has an ACT 6 puck in his 10 sec dc2 and it's held up for quite some time and passes but is quite stiff. No experience with comp...guess I will need more research

On an s2000, stock Honda disc, ACT pressure plate, oem throwing bearing and pilot bearing. Done.

When I bought my S2k it had a comp stage 4, it was way to touchy for everyday driving so I put in a comp stage 2 and comp ultralight flywheel and couldn't be happier. Great pedal feel and no chatter.

To get an S2000 clutch to hold that power it is going to be a little rough on the daily ...

Centerforce has a DFX unit that seems to be holding up quite nicely at a higer power level adn the car is driven daily.

I personally have a Centerforce Dual Friction model and have put over 40k miles on it not to mention over 2500 track miles...most s2k owners after driving my car always end up buying a centerforce:bigsmile:

Yeah I expect to lose some driving comfort as far engagement and stiffness goes but it's gotta hold up

A friend of mine had a 400 whp S2K and he was running an ACT street disc along with an ACT pressure plate mated to a factory flywheel. It had great pedal feel (not too heavy if you were to daily it), and it never slipped. He didn't daily his so I can't speak for the longevity of that setup with 400 whp but it always felt great, even after a couple trips down the 1/4 mile.

I have the Hardtop Guy ACT kit with the ACT HD pressure plate and lightweight flywheel. It grabs pretty good and isn't too stiff on daily driving. I'd recommend it for a lightly modded street car (but I have nothing else to compare it to)

On an s2000, stock Honda disc, ACT pressure plate, oem throwing bearing and pilot bearing. Done.

This is my recommendation also but only for a dd :drive:

I went all OEM everything. No complaints

I can vouch for ACT pressure plate, stock S2000 clutch disc, stock throwout and pilot bearings at 400whp.

Good for ridiculous power.....good for DD as I use my car for both.

You'll keep the stock feel, no crazy unforgiving ON/OFF with a pucked disc. Feels stock, holds the power perfect on a hard launch or each full gear to redline.

Also good for towing. :P

Edit: I also have the clutch delay valve removed in my 2008 - above still works great.

I need a new CMC. Mine leakssssss

haha, who's cmc hasn't leaked? At least it's easy to replace.

I have the Exedy "OEM replacement" and it sucks. Super soft good for traffic, sucky for performance. The T/O bearing is already starting to rattle again after 25k miles.

Hard top guy clutch FTW!
