Hondata Coil Pack Retrofit (CPR) - AVAILABLE NOW!

Overview
The Hondata Coil Pack Retrofit (CPR) allows the use of 'coil on plug' individual ignition coils on engines with distributor based ignition systems (D, B, F and H series Honda engines). It does this by replacing the stock coil and ignition with an electronic circuit which can drive igniter type individual ignition coils, such as used on later model Honda engines. A Hondata S300 system is required.

How much does the Hondata CPR cost? $395 AVAILABLE NOW! ORDER NOW!

What does the Hondata CDR come with?
The Hondata CPR comes with a wiring harness for your coil packs, a coil pack controller and fly leads for connecting to your distributor and ECU. The CPR is typically positioned next to the ECU inside the car.

Benefits
* More spark energy than a single coil, allowing a larger plug gap and fewer misfires.
* Individual coils are more durable and less likely to fail than the stock igniter and coil.
* No exposed plug leads results in less interference to other electronics on the vehicle.
* Additionally, the Coil Pack Retrofit can drive a CDI controller if desired.

Requirements
* Hondata S300 system (not included).
* 4 x coils, Honda part number 30520-PVF-A01 (approx $60 retail and not included)

Optional parts
* 4 x coil seals, Honda part number 30522-RNA-A01 (approx $19 retail)

These coil seals provide a tighter fit than those supplied with the 30520-PVF-A01 coils.
Notes
* Resistor plugs must be used.
* The coils require a method of retention. B16A, B18C & F22A engines may use the stock plug cover. Other engines require an alternative method of coil retention (not supplied).
* This is a race product. Cranking times may be increased over a stock ignition set up.
* For detailed installation instructions click here.

FAQ
- Can I remove the distributor?
No. It is needed for the timing signals. See the CPR help file for more details.

CDI
- The Coil Pack Retrofit can be used with capacitive discharge ignition systems, such as M&W Pro-14, Autronic 500R or Motec 41011. Note that a CDI controller must be used - the Coil Pack Retrofit will not drive capacitive coils directly.
The CDI controller will be triggered from the Coil Pack Retrofit coil trigger outputs. The Coil Pack Retrofit produces a rising edge trigger for the coil packs, so the CDI controller should be configured to use a rising edge trigger.

Does this sytem work with any other engine management?
NOT AT THIS TIME. At this time ONLY hondata s300 works with it.
"The S300 needs to output a synchronization signal to the coil driver."
The system communicates with the ALTC (alternator control) output.

Is this good for all motor cars to?

Yep, works on all motor cars too.

We've been testing one on Raul's 9 second civic for a few months now, working great. No more stock coil or ignitor problems, no need for a rotor, and once I get done making the billet distributor cover, you wont need the cap either! :)

Seems like coils packs are getting popular on older Honda motors

At least he lost to our favorite pineapple! :)

I will be making a billet distributor cover in the near future.. It will probably come out around the time that the Hondata kit is available..

Nothing special is needed to be done to the S300, just check the box to enable ignition output on AltC, and you're done..

Pre-order price is $395 with free spark plugs, and I will be offering discounts on the billet distributor cover to those who buy the Hondata CPR..

The stock vtec plug wire covers will work to retain the coil packs, as well as the T1 Race Development plug wire cover..

The Nology Hot wires have been proven over and over to do nothing on high hp cars.

In my eyes, OEM wires are better than Nology wires.

Why doesnt hondata just develop one of these?

That AEM EPM item does not work with the Honda ECU, they could develop a billet housing for the distributor sensors, but no need to reinvent the wheel, or distributor housing in this case.

Cause the stock ecu which hondata uses relys on the stock timing components. It isn't a standalone like aem.

In your opinion is the aem ecu/cop a better setup?

Sighhhhhh i need intenseneal in here to explain all this to me!!!

Since the AEM COP does not work with a honda ECU, we are talking about two different products. :)

Intenseneal isn't exactly anyone I would be taking any sort of Honda advice from, just read his posts and make your own assumption. :)

The Hondata CPR kits are now on backorder, I sold out of them this week.

All I was suggesting is Hondata develop something to take the distributors place, it will look pretty goofy, even with a billet cover, to have the distributor still bolted up despite having a COP. More than half of the Honda/Acura customer base has pride in the visual appearance of their engine bay. I'd also be willing to wager to say that a large percentage of buyers would get this just to say they have it and for cosmetic purposes.

More than half also cant afford to buy an s300 just to use this..

When is the next shipment supposed to come in. Or do they not have an eta yet.

Unfortunately, No ETA has been given.. I received over a third of the initial released amount, and sold them all within a few weeks with the billet distributor cap.. I can put your name on a list if you definately want one..

BTW, Joe, that cap is really nice looking. I wouldn't consider this if your piece wasn't available. Too bad I'm running a K20Z3 soon.

You should get a pic of that cap posted up here.

I'll get you a price, but those CPR units seem to be on backorder all the time.. I've received 16 in 6 months, they are usually gone within two days. I have more on order, but who knows when they will show up..

As long as you have an S300 unit, you just need the CPR box, and the Civic or RSX coil packs.. The distributor cover is just an optional item I offer..
