I made this piece on my mill a while back . The piece allows you to put a Honda distributor on a Toyota 3TC motor.

The idea was to put Hondata on my buddys Toyota but in the end he didnt have the money to really make it happen.

Here is a pic with it installed on the motor.

I am in this thread I am a machinist by trade I run a Quickmill Intimadator 120 with Fanuc 21i controls, 1000psi thru the tool coolant, 4k rpm spindle, and 600 ipm rapid transverse. I program it with MasterCam and I am MasterCam certified. I very fluent with Hass CNC. If only Joe at Locash would hire me to run the ones he has in his shop. Or I would work at Hasport. I will get some pics on here soon

alright about time. im the fng at my place learning the trade. but currently running production on aerospace using a fadal 4020 4th/5th axis. plus learning mastercam by playing around a little with it. its insane what is possible with a 4th/5th.

Gateway Communitany College, the machine shop there is the best in AZ better than ASU Polytenic. I go back soon for Solidworks 3D solid modeling. When I am done I will have a duel AAS in Industrial Technology its a little more than 6k for all schooling not including books.

I was machinist for a long time. Trust me school helps alot especially the GD&T. I am very fluent with a cmm, mill and lathe level 1,2, and 3 MasterCam certified. Not to mention going to Solidworks certified and I already have various NIMS certifications along with a six sigma black belt. And when all done a duel Associates Degree in Industrial Design Techology and Industrial Production Technology. There are some things you need school for, so I could be your next boss.

It was how you said there is nothing wrong with learning it yourself I know plenty of people that can walk circles around me and they never had any schooling. But the schooling has made everything make sense at what I do.

Getting the wireless probing to make setups faster and more accurate.. Thinking about doing block sleeving with Darton MID sleeves as well, and it would speed up the whole process, and allow for automated in-process inspection..

I'm not sure I have enough work to hire another guy right now, lol.

Shoot Joe with a 10K spindle and that model of Hass and using a c-hook of Volu-mill in MasterCam. I could cut aluminum at 8K and 600 inches a minute feed rate on aluminum with 40% stepover and full depth of cut of 1.5 inch with a 5 flute .5 flat endmill.

Who cuts aluminum with a 5 flute endmill? :) I'd make you provide the tooling to take that risk, lol.

88todab16crx
06-12-2011, 08:28 AM
Joe you should go to Gateway Community. We have used 4 and 5 flute endmills to cut with those speeds and we use Helical Endmill they are cheap and with the c-hook we are cutting 2-3 times what the manufactuer recommends

I would love to see this..... 1.5in depth of cut at 600in per min sounds pretty bawlsy especially with only .5 endmill. I know for a fact that I can run a .5 pm rougher (3 flute) on my HAAS VF3 at 1in depth of cut 60% stepover at 6500 rpm and 55 in per min on 6061. I mean I am not doubting it can be done.... I would just like to see it.

Go on You Tube and search Volu-milland there are tons of videos for this. Like I have stated before Volumill is a c-hook add in to MasterCam or any other Cam software. It mainly used for roughing. Volu-mill works just like the 2d high speed toolpaths that Mastercam have in X4 and X5.

Ooh, a bump! I recently added another lathe to the shop, a Haas ST10. Also ordered a CNC Plasma table yesterday, so if anyone needs any oddball pieces cut out, drop me a line..

As far as home mill's go, I suck at manual machining, so I'd be trying to buy a Haas Minimill or something, lol. I give props to guys who can make cool shit on manual machines, because I can't, I'm a horrible fabricator..

yah it seems pretty decent. and ive been in the trade for a year and 1/2. still new i know. . started and am currently runing a fadal 5 axis. (damn fadals).. at an aerospace manufacturing/production shop. but i would like to better my skills with g/m codes and dive further into the programing side of things. i can do basic programing but nothing complex. thats why i was checking this place out. its getting offerd for free i just need to list the classes and im in.
i was just asking what it was like. i have no education after higschool and have no clue how these online classes work out.
