View Full Version : Brothers 06 Civic Si (Strange winding noise?)

It's making a high pitched winding noise, not sure what it is. It seems to be coming from one of the belts on the left hand side of the engine bay. Anybody have an idea what this might be or experienced something similar?

bearings in the alternator? i would remove the belt and check all the pulleys.

Belt tensioner maybe?

AC compressor? This happened to my ep3 about a month ago, it started with a whine/wind then made this God awful grinding noise. Hopefully your brother isn't that unlucky, I got quoted 1100-1200 from all the shops I called.

my 07 Si had a slight whine coming from that side too, not high pitched or annoying, did sound like a super charger though... herra small one LOL

no shop could diagnose it as having a problem, and the honda dealer said most FA/FG's had that slight whining. But defiantly get that checked its WAY too loud to be normal at all.
