its a DC only machine so no alum, for 400 bucks just keep looking on craigslist there was a brand new miller maxstar 140 the other day for 300 bucks and those will do both 110 and 220.

well the one on there now for 450 is not worth it. you still need a bottle of argon. that unit does not have a foot pedal and i dont think you can hook one up too it.

id offer him 250 for it and find a bottle and you will be able to start laying down beads.

also do you have a 220 power source? its very easy to wire up yourself but you are looking at some money in wire, breaker, and the box.

those bottles are so tiny they wont last long.

craigslist is where its at. just keep looking. make sure to get a owner bottle.

the ring on the neck will be bare. if it says a company name on it stay away

agree with Advert ...
If you can save a little more to spring for a Miller that is the way to go . If you are only interested in welding steel then you have alot of options when it comes to choosing a good machine.
I recently bought an HTP and love the machine. They have a invertig 131 which sounds like it would suit your needs. Brand new it runs $849.00 and comes with everything you need except
the Argon bottle.

If your on the west side, Vern Lewis is where I go. Get a big bottle because you'll need it with a tig. All these guys are right on the money. Save for a better machine and grow into it. I have a miller dynasty and love it. HTP and Thermal are good options as well. You'll thank yourself later.

If you are not in a hurry you can find deals. I bought a maxstar 200 a few months backs for 350. It was rough and did not look pretty but it worked. That did not include pedal or torch but had a full welder for about 800.

Ya. I'm gonna ask them to change my name back. Bored of this saved by the bell stuffs.

For small repairs like that, i'd take it somewhere like ctd or aaron garcia. You're gonna wanna make sure it's done right, and their prices doe that should be way less than a tig. If you break shit often, i'd say get a mig, but depends on what else you break too....

Have you ever tigged before?

might be a good start, only 150 amps and a little older. but hobart is made by miller.

but i would talk him down you can get it with a warrenty for not much more at

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200497387_200497387?cm_mmc=Aggregates-_-Google-_-Welding%3ETig%20Welders-_-22057

but its dc/ac

@150 amps your not going to be able to do a lot of aluminum but its a good start if you can talk him down.

but make sure you do, its the same thing as far as i know as the miller econotig which a few years back where selling for 900ish new.

i would do like 500 for it.

One just got on there for 500.
