This will be NASA AZ's first event running at Chuckwalla. Chuckwalla is located approximately 50 miles west of Blythe, CA in Desert Center, just north of the I-10. The track features a 17 turn, 2.68 mile configuration featuring various elevation changes and 1 to 10 degrees of banking in the turns.
Event Features:
* Test and Tune on Friday (HPDE4, TT, Race Groups) - 100% open track to these three groups! (HPDE3 drivers welcomed too but require advanced approval)
* Split Small Bore and Big Bore Race groups (Points events Saturday and Sunday)
* Time Trial (Points events Saturday and Sunday)
* Time Attack (Sunday only)
* HPDE 1-4
Track Overview (from Tage's perspective...):
This will be NASA's first official event at Chuckwalla but you can be certain it will not be the last. I had the pleasure of getting to evaluate this facility back in Oct of 2011. The facilities were a bit sparse. Somewhere in-between what you would expect at FIR East vs FIR Main. The paddock is fully paved but there is still quite a bit of dirt surrounding the facility. There is no power but there is an RV dump station, running water and pay at the pump fuel right there on site. You might ask yourself, big deal right?
Well unlike FIR East, West or Main, this is a REAL race track! This is not some tiny test track or a drag strip & paddock that has been configued to be reused as a road course, this is "the real deal". A true road course built in the middle of nowhere so you can be as loud as you want and have the time of your life. 2.68 miles of pure bliss for HPDE, TT and racers alike. It's not tight and twisty like FIR West or INDE and unlike our other options it has massive banked corners, blind crest features and elevation changes that will make your stomache ache. Wait until you see the drive "the bowl"!!! If you enjoy the slightly faster speeds seen at FIR Main, you'll love Chuckwalla's even faster average speeds. I think this will be the favorite track for NASA AZ drivers!

* Gate fee (this is charged by the track, NOT NASA!): $10 per person for 1 day / $15 per person for all weekend (kids <18 free)
* Camping fee = $15 (1st night) $5 for each additional night
* RV dump station
* Saturday night BBQ!!! With FREE BEER!!!
* Track Fast Motorsports will be onsite for tire sales and service
* Onsite "pay at the pump" fuel sales (91, 100, 110, diesel)
* Onsite food vendor (actually really good food!)
* Good sized paved paddock
* Camping is ok/encouraged at the track but bring enough supplies for the weekend as there is not a store close by
* There is NO POWER out there. Everything runs off generator. Unless you rented a generator, it is not okay to plug into the tracks generators.
