Just dropped a freshly rebuilt ls in my car a few days ago. it starts fine and idles fine when parked. the problem is as soon as i start driving, if i let the rpm's drop they keep dropping until the car shuts off. I'm stummped. I also keep finding oil on the spark plug wires. I reseated the valve cover gaskets and even added a little bit of hondabond but yet i still find a slight bit of oil on them. not sure if that is related to my other problem. Another detail is that i'm currently running with ONLY a header, again not sure if this is related to the idleing issue

Any CEL's? everythings hooked up right, all sensors good?
Sounds dumb but its really easy to hook shit up wrong on these cars i found out...I've had my IACV hooked up to a water temp sensor on the back of the engine ever since i put this engine in...swapped the wires, no more cel, no more hesitation. (and now i hit a code 43 randomly and code 17 cause my speedo cable is broken...never kicked a 17 before and its never been hooked in.)
does it idle fine normally?
Oil in the wires is definitely those little donuts on the valve cover. I have a new set of gaskets just in case mine start leaking. Not sure what makes them leak but I dont think they like being reused

it struggles less when then motor is warm but cold starts are a bitch, it does not stay on at all. I do have a cel but i have not checked that out yet.

So you make a thread to help you with a problem, yet you haven't even checked your CEL?:smackself:
I WONDER WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?
*ignore CEL and post on AZHT instead*
