So my car has hunting idle when cold. Rough throttle when cruising at freeway speeds. And throw a cel code 1 when I beat on it for a few gears. Any ideas?

its a 93 cx with a ls engine. its a obd2 head with a obd1 i/m. i know the code 1 is 02 sensor. but i have found very little online as to what usually causes this

Well a code 1 isn't going to do anything with a hunting idle when cold, the O2 sensor is null until the you are in closed loop. For that issue I would start with checking my IAT sensor, ECT sensor, and IACV. As for the rough throttle at cruising speeds/loads that could very well be your O2 sensor.

Engine coolant temp. I've never seen one fail but I've seen stranger things happen.

heres a question. im running the stock civic exhaust which im pretty sure is leaking at the flange being they are nowhere near the right size. think i could be getting messed up o2 readings because of this??

Depends how close it is to the sensor. The pulsing of the engine allows for oxygen to get in the leak, causing a false lean reading. Your engine may be running too rich because of this. in extreme cases this can cause a "wash out" of your cylinders, which means there is enough fuel in the cylinders that it actually removes the oil off the walls and causes blow by.
