I had just bought some si rear seats, so I wanted to make a DIY thread for it. Hopefully the mods can sticky this. The reason being is that I have researched this. And a couple of forum sites like Club Civic someone had some pics of this done not very clear on how they got them in there but that person did mention that it was a straight drop-in. This is clearly not the case here. There is alot of cutting and welding and more cutting to get these in.
Some of the modifications to the seats are:
1. The main thing is the locking mechanism. The big side of the seat has be moved 3" and the small side has to be moved 1".
2. The small angle brackets need to have new holes drilled and modified alittle.
3. The rear brace needs to have slots put into them.
There are a couple of more minor details that need to be done and you will see in the pictures.
4. The seats need to be centered and you will do this when modifing the small back casing of the seat. If not you will have a gap when you install the uppers.
Tools needed are:
1. Grinder
2. Die Grinder or Dremel with a cut off wheel and a Carbide Burr.
3. Welder
4. 10mm and 12mm sockets
So with that being said onto the pictures and steps to get this done.
5. Drill with a 1/16", 5/16", and 1/2" bit. (I drilled a pilot hole for the 1/2" bit)
Step 1:
Lets get those stocks seats out. I did not take pictures of this. Basically un-bolt your seats. To take out the uppers is to fold them down and lift up the carpet on the corners and the few 10mm bolts undo them and the uppers will come out. To undo the lower is to unbolt the one 10 mm to the your right in the car and lift up and out and the seat is out.
Step 2:
I took the cloth off my new seats on the uppers just so I can get the back casing off because you will be cutting and welding on these 2 pieces and where the bulk of the work comes in to play here.
This is the small part of the back casing as you can see the locking bar. This one has to be moved 1". The second picture shows the bigger part of the upper seat.

Step 3:
In these next couple of pictures I mocked up the steel casings into my car. This is the step that will show you how much things need to change to get them to fit into an EK.
Here you can see the left the casing has only one hole and the ek has 2 on the little braket. Now you can fabricate another bracket. I chose to modify it. You need to put a hole in the center.

Here I grinded it down flat so my drill bit would not walk on me. I used a 5/16" bit here.

Here you can see it bolted up. Noticed how I cut a little material out of the bottom of the bracket and the seat backing also This is do to having to center the seats in the EK if not you will have a gap on one side of the seats.

This picture was taken above showing how much the locking bar needs to be moved (most people opt to just cut this off I do not recommend this). When this does get moved it needs to be tilted down so it will go into the locking mechanism.

In this picture here is where the locks need to be. I layed out the area that needs to be removed. I used a cutting wheel to cut it out them used a carbied burr on a die grinder to clean it up.

Here is after the material removed and where the locks need to be placed.

The black line is where this lock needs to be moved too. I just cut those welds on each side of the lock and knocked it off with a hammer. grand the weld that is left on the lock after you get it off.

In these two pictures below is the back casing bolted fully into the car and showing them locked in. Next is fill in the holes where I had knocked off the lock and fully weld the lock in its new place.

I test fitted these things like 10 times to make sure everything fit just right.

Once all that is done put the cloth back onto the steel backings. Provided the steel is cooled down. Then bolt them into the car to see how the fit. I thought I had a picture with both halves bolted into the car.

Now you are half way done with the install of these seats.
Step 4:
This step consist of modifing the rear bace with adding some slotted holes so the hooks can catch the hole so it will stay down in the front. On the EK the loop on the stock seat is on the driver side and on the newer seat its on the passenger side. I think the easiest way to do this I tack welded a nut to the car and bolted to that.
This the area where you need to add a slot I made my slots 1/2" wide x 1 1/8" long. I did this by drilling two holes and using the die grinder to cut out the middle of the material and a carbide burr to clean it all up.

Kind of weird looking because it is located on this incline.

Bolt this brace back in all three pieces.
You can see where I had tack welded a nut into place. This is where the loop is going to bolt in to hold the back of the lower seat down.

Due to this area because of the more roundness of the seat I am going to have some material sewn onto my CTR carpet to cver this up.
