Hell yeah, what kind of work are you doing??

Just starting out...random shit mostly(from a metal flower, exhaust stuff, tube work(bumper), skid plate, spare tire mount, trailer hitch for a geo lol) hopefully bigger things eventually.

I've always had a welder or access to one since I was 12, but most of the work was just repairs. Always wanted to get into fabrication though, so im building up my tools and skills as money allows.

Yeah its a lot of fun! I was in a fab shop for a bit, learned a lot there...

Have a tubing.bender already? That's my next crazy ass purchase :)

I have access to a pro tools bender but its still manual and definitely a work out lol.

Have been looking at a few, this one isn't too bad but its limited to .135 hrew or .95 dom. Id like to be able to do up to .250 hrew and .120 dom in 1.5-2" od. Might see if my buddy will just sell me his pro tools and convert it to air/hydro since he has used it to make 4 bends in the 6 years he's owned it.

Wouldn't mind starting out at the bottom in a fab shop, maybe If I could find one needing help on the weekends. Then wait until they need someone full time and my skills are further than a notch above dedspool lol.

Yeah, being able to do thicker DOM would be a major plus....

From what I've.researched, that pro tools unit looks nice. But, buy your friends and put a cheap harbor freight air over hydro ram on it to give the arms a rest ;)

Do you know of any affordable large radius benders that would handle thicker DOM?

Exactly, was looking at this conversion for it, cheap enough I wouldn't waste my time making my own.

How large of a radius? And thicker than .125 dom?

This one will do up to 7" and can handle 2" .120 dom

Or a roll bender?

Or get the harbor freight roll bender and this kit lol

Not sure what your price range for affordability is though.

I Browse through this vendor section when im window shopping lol

All these things are just on my Christmas list for now, I'm sure by the time I get em all I'll be.too old to even use em :(

How about a notcher setup? I've seen a few home made belt notchers, but again I'm not to that level yet.

Any inexpensive setups, maybe that'd work with a drill press with a holesaw on it?

Probably sound like a salesman for baileigh lol but from a few bigger shops I've talked to, they're pretty much the standard.

This one can be mounted in a drill press and seems pretty much the same as most $200 notchers. Hf has one similar but it takes some adjustments to get it to notch on center and it uses bushings instead of bearings.

This one is pretty slick, can notch on a bend. Don't think it can be used with a drill press though.

Im still undecided on getting a notcher. I've seen a few people notch tubing with a chop saw faster than an actual notcher or belt sander. Partially why I want the evolution rage 2 cold chop saw, wont have to clean up as much black shit on the floor, blades don't get smaller over time like abrasives and being able to handle them right after a cut would be nice.

There's some guides for cutting angles for using a chop saw for notching in this thread.
