Make sure throttle cable isn't too tight.

Check vacuum lines

Rzarectah
01-16-2013, 01:11 PM

shelovesmyvtec
01-16-2013, 01:20 PM

shelovesmyvtec
01-16-2013, 01:22 PM
i have checked timing multiple times

kguerrero
01-16-2013, 01:27 PM
Make sure intake manifold is tight to the head. Make sure intake manifold and throttle body gasket is good. Sounds vacuum related.

The President

and when he says they've checked for vacuum leaks, i feel like he means they visually looked for them... which means nothing since you cannot see a fucking vacuum leak.

Spray that bitch down with carb cleaner and see what happens.

Hahahahahaha.
Use brake clean and spray all vacuum lines and gaskets. If there is a leak, the engine will bog down sucking in the vapors. Soapy water wont do much since its a vacuum and not blowing air back out. Could be a cracked line, hence why it doesnt idle hop.

01-16-2013, 03:03 PM
Also check your fast idle screw on your throttle body. Adjust it to see if there is a change

Rzarectah

Yup let it run while the screw is open, once you get steady coolant coming out close it gently, they are known to break

shelovesmyvtec

This. Just spray all over the bay and if it bogs then that's it. If not try a different ecu.:031:

Doesn't Honda have a high initial idle to assist in getting the car to operating temperature?

Yes but he also stated its a high idle AFTER bring warmed up.

taintschwacker
01-16-2013, 09:59 PM
High idle could be caused by vacuum leak, incorrect timing, faulty ecu, bad dizzy, to tight of a throttle cable, gunked up, damaged, or slightly bent butterfly in throttlebody, leaking injector.. Etc. Its hard to say what it really is.

Fast idle intake valve located under the trottle body. The plastic screw valve is backed all the way out causing a vacuum leak. Take off the air intake. 3 10mm bolts hold it and two coolant lines. Take off the two screws opposite of the coolant passages and theres a big white plug screw that will fall out with a brass valve. Clean it up amd take a flat head amd screw it back in till its snug. Put it all back together and enjoy

I just had this problem on my da a few weeks ago. Took about 10 minutes or so.

My car had the exact symptoms so I know this is the right answer
