When you say home theater are you asking about an actaul home theater with projector and all or just a nice TV setup and Surround sound setup?

I used to be into home theater..now I just have a 46" sony and a Samsung sound bar with a wireless sub, sounds good enough to me (having had multiple real surround sound systems in the past)

I have a projector setup and whatnot.

It is not some super-duper setup.

Just an Acer HD projector and some low-budget surround sound.

I have maybe $550 invested for a HD 106" screen. What is nice, most lower priced projectors are perfectly viewable in the daytime as well.

55 LED LG, 7.1 Onyx surround sound setup. Its decent but will build my next one from scratch.

yes projector setup, i think everyone has a tv and surround these days.

im trying to decide on some surround sound, i've usually used out of the box setups.. but was hoping maybe to devote a little more money for a nicer setup. really not looking to blow a lot a lot though

i have any extra room im turning into a little theatre... i used to have the projector in my room but it just got too hot so i'm moving everything to a more legit setup in the extra room

Paul when measuring theatre screens you normally measure straight across... are you running 106" diag or across?

im right a 8ft right now, its a short room, but thats ok. i'm sure the room won't be used very often but just have everything for it and the space so i said why not!

my screen comes in next week, picked up an electronic retractable one.

106 Diag. I could go bigger, but this was an easy size to setup so I am happy with it.

yea i dont blame you. it kind of sucks because my nice unit is already outdated. its not a good investment lol, but it still works great for me.

with how stuff is now days its really not hard to get a nice system for a decent price.

i think the best thing i have invested into is a htpc. a lot of people dont like the idea of a computer attached but mine does my dvr, my tv guide all my live tv the works. the interface is nice and its really not expensive to do. i have a old laptop with hdmi powering my main tv. I think the best part is being able to have all your movies digital. i rip them all into a mkv and all my covers and artwork are downloaded automaticaly. if i want to watch a movie it loads instantly on any of my tvs. no lag at all on blue rays.

I keep my movies stored on a server but the cost was so cheap i used a old P4 which was giving to me for free and installed ubuntu server wich is also free. the only thing that cost me was the hard drive space. (which if you rent red box blue rays is cheaper then buying anyways)

I have a computer running behind my couch that my projector set-up uses. It is awesome, I use it for HBOgo, Hulu, DVR, play games on, etc.

i have a hdhomerun prime with a cable card. i get all the channels that you would with a normal cable box but so much better.

now if cox would stop flagging all there channels so i could use mythtv properly i would be set!

I have been doing low voltage for bout 15 years

nothing beats a well designed and well installed system

this is my current house.......60" led Sharp....Onkyo 7.1 receiver...Full upscaling/HDMI control.....Klipsch towers.....decent surrounds...sub..and center....

So it's a true 7.1 system

I HATE entertainment centers!!!! so tacky..and take up floor space

another thing is having a million remotes

my remote..is a single remote that works everything ...all thru RF

so I have everything around the corner in a media closet....has it's own dedicated 120 GFCI circuit..and HVAC has been plumbed in there to keep everything nice and cool

Componets in the Media closet are ...7.1 receiver... HD DVR....Media Server...Xbox360....Cable modem..Router...and 2channel amp for patio speakers

here is some pix......the closet has changed around a little...mainly to clean up the wiring

I also hate exposed cables outside....I actually gutted the whole houses low voltage and ran all new lines...no splices...and installed it PROPERLY!!!

here is some before and after

I am in the process of moving everything to a rack because my shit is a mess. server is in one room. cable modem and router is in another. camera dvr is in another. and then this.
