I use a brush and light water and a simple detergent while I have the engine running
Then Adams in and out spray

Purple Power/Brake Cleaner.

Let soak.

Cover intake and dizzy also timing belt if you dont have a cover.

Power wash outside of frame (motor mounts sides radiator firewall)

Swish power spray the engine dont sit there and soak it. just enough to get the pp off.

X2 on the purple power. Just dont let it sit too long. Get a tooth brush if you wanna get picky to get between the little spaces. You can also get some wd40 to give it gloss after you wash it

x3 on the Purple Power I've been using it on engine bays for years. You can get them in the large (5 gallon?) containers and then dilute it with water in an old spray bottle to make it easier to use.

Simple green did wonders for me. And cheaper than purple power i sprayed the bay with it then rinse it off repeat or scrub if needed
