View Full Version : Gas Mileage
I was wondering what other 96-00 Civic owners are getting for mpg or mpt (miles per tank)? I don't know why but I think I'm getting lower than average, I average about 25 mpg or about 300 mpt. Just wanted to see what others are getting to see if I really have a problem.

what kind of driving are you mostly doing? I only drive to and from work on scottsdale rd. every day and it is sometimes stop and go and try to get 300 mpt. Used to get 350 but that was before bolt on's.
Oh I only do city driving, no highway at all.

29-32mpg on 87.
thats with my D15B VTEC with I/H/E and combined City/highway. And I use what little power I have to the fullest.
Got about 23-25mpg when I had Automatic. That went up to 28-30mpg when I went turbo and then 32-33mpg when I was 5-speed/turbo.

then you are getting pretty much what you would expect for mileage. when I was living in GIlbert and had to commute every day up the 60/101 then I used to get around 350 and on long highway trips I can stretch that a little, but around town you're lucky if you make 300. Also depends on lead foot-itis. LOL!

i get around 300 miles per tank.
i get around 300 miles per tank.
In an EK or Accord?
I get 300-350 miles per tank on a 1.6L sohc motor in my 96 civic sedan. Depends on how much of a grandma i drive like. Keep your engine in vaccuum and youll see the most mileage.

I'm averaging ~40mpg. This is all highway movin' at 65-85 mph.
(HX - manual tranny)
Slowest car I've ever own.

Definitely worth it as I only use it to commute to and from work.
Not only is the HX slow, but it handles like a plow truck.
Anyone get more than this? I always thought that bolt ons would increase gas mileage (that's if you don't exploit the newfound power).

Bolt on's will increase gas mileage if the car is driven normally. Mods tend to give people a heavier foot because they want to "hear" enjoy their mods.

Read the packaging completely.
It's more like a clay rock until you mix it and it hardens into a solid metal bond.

I think what helps a lot is headwork because it allows the motor to breathe more easily, in addition to a good intake and free flowing exhaust.

Yeah, when my brother had his Accord, he had an intake and exhaust and drove to Phoenix and back on less than half a tank!

I just filled up 9.9 gallons having went 406.5 miles (translation: 41.06 mpg).
My driving style is mixed. 80% of the time, I average 20mph over the speed limit.
20% of the time, I drive the speed limit.
ALL highway, no stop/go city driving.
ride: hx 5 speed, no engine mods except Energy Suspension motor mounts
