I stumbled across this a few weeks ago and have now been intrigued into figuring out how hard it would be to mount an android tablet as the only head unit in my car. I've seen a few finished results online but not much detail as to what is needed. Are their any "kits" that are sold with corresponding tablets? Any info is appreciated.

Note that I have looked into double dins but it seems that every few years what once was the latest model becomes outdated.

I have a Bluetooth capable Sony Headunit mounted hidden in my car, and it is paired to my Google Nexus 7 Tablet.

Works great. I also use the tablet as a GPS speedometer, Megasquirt gauge display, and Navigation.

What is the model number on that head unit if you don't mind me asking. And does it just sit behind the dash somewhere? Also do you have a charging port to your nexus 7? Or do you take it out and charge it in home?

I charge it at home, it gets great battery life.

I have the CD player in the glovebox.

How do you have your tablet mounted? Any pics

I made a mount, I think I am going to modify my cluster to allow the tablet to sit in front of it though.

Pic using a mount I attached to the case for the nexus :

Now I have a mount that is similar that does not use the case at all and it looks much cleaner.

I found a cool speedometer/nav app so I want to find a way to integrate the tablet into my cluster.

The CD player model # is Sony MEX-BTP3100P. I think I paid ~90 bucks for it. Bluetooth works well.

Yet to install, as my last tablet bricked itself when the battery died. Anyways just picked up another and am going to give it a shot over the weekend

What all or program is that on your tablet, looks badass.
How accurate is it?

It is ShadowDash from EFI Analytics.

It is super accurate, because it reads from my Megasquirt EMS

OK so I set it up and am just about finished with the mount but my deh7300bt pioneer head unit doesn't seem to pair itself with my nexus 7. Help?
