Pros and Cons on owning a S2000

:hi: Hey guys and girls I'm looking into buying a S2k real soon, so I need to know some facts on that beautiful beast. Like, what are the benefits of owning that kind of car. You see, I owned Integras for 8 years of my life and now it's time to move on. I've always loved the
s2k, but never thought of owning one and now that my dc got stolen I need a new car. Your info and knowledge would be very appreciated.:but: What are the differences between the two chasis codes you guys mentioned.

well i love my s2k and its just a fun car to drive and its nicely done from honda.... and for me i benefit from a 2 seater cuz i aint gatta take the whole crew.

ive honetly only had one downside wit the car is that the freaking trunk is smallller than a mother....well that and parts r stupid expensive... but other than that dude i love the s2k..suspension is dope stock...quick...sexy...and ur hair can blow in da wind..haha

and the 2 difference is

00-03 ap1
redlines at 9k, f20c 2.0 liter.

04-07 ap2
redlines at 8k, f22 2.2 liter..so more torque and its a little faster than the ap1s

parts difference..front/rear lights, seats, wind deflecter, gauge, center counsel (ap2s have leather haha), exaust, rims, and i think tha suspension is done a little better on the ap2s. and thats all i can think of right now..i hope that helps...

Well the s2000 is an "amazing machine" But at the same time, Your stepping into a completely different ball game. Reason being, The mods are much more expensive, And there isnt a ton of selection. Also wheel shopping is also a little hard, and if you dont want work or volk or prodrive wheels, then your kind of stuck. Im all for nice quality JDM parts but at the same time, im just going with AP2 wheels for this season because i cannot afford baller wheels.

I agree and my next car will also (hopefully) be the NSX. If I were you I would also look into getting a quote on insurance before you buy any car.

^^^^ i completley disagree with this... there are so many modding options to go with the s2000!! maybe more so than any other car have you ever visited bulletproof automotive and check out the on going list of mods that are available for this car?!?!?!?1 as for wheels you can go with a hell of a lot more options than work volk or prodrive?!?! seriously just need to learn offset and sizing with wheels and there are many possiblities.... if you cant find any just ask me and i will be more than happy to show you what i mean... and teach people the ropes... and not all have to be baller type wheels i paid way less for my second set of wheels then what your going to pay for some stock ap2 wheels... just have to be patient and lucky...and have the knowledge of whats available...

i love my s2000 i have wanted it since i was 15... and my next car too will be an nsx... just be sure to have a backup car if you have a family... or need things moved or things like that...

Well, the s2k certainly is a nice car. Are you sold on getting it, or another Honda, or just looking for a change of car scenery? Are you into 2 seaters, coupes, or just fast well built cars?

If you are looking new, personally, there are SEVERAL cars I would rather have at the 32K price tag, (including 2 more doors, more trunk space, wider selection of available mods, and slightly faster stock, see where I am going? ;) ) but maybe that is just me. Good luck with it! ;)

if ur a tall guy likeme, ur not gonna be comfortable. i work for honda and i jus sat in one and i didnt like how i had to sit up super straight jus to extwnd my legs somewhat straight. its a nice ride, tho. as a salesman, i will tell u this..ur insuraqnce will go up. its a sports car. u cant ewven take an s2k out for any old test drive like a civic. u got to be buying it to test drive. yea, the parts to modifiy it are expensive too. pros..rear wheel drive, not many out on the road like a civic or accord. its a classy car, plus u still get good gas mileage.

well as far as the 2 cars go i have a ap1 and have yet to be beaten by the "faster" ap2 with equal mods the ap1 has a more harsh power dilevery but the ap2 has like 6 more lbs of torque and makes power over a longer rev range its all driver preference either way watch were u park the car cause people want those seats and steering wheel

Noice!!!!! I love my AP1. Yeah,it's not practical if you plan on having a family(me,my fiance and her daughter ride in the Camry.)However,I'm not getting rid of the car(teaching my future daughter how to detail the S2K as well as the Toyota.) Congrats on your ride!!!

I had an 05 S2000, and to this day it never lost to not another honda(and i am talking about swapped hondas), so with that said its not slow stock but its not a 13 second car either. my ek hatch now could whomp it..... probably, keep in mind s2000 has a/c and p/s my hatch does not and neither did most the hondas that i beat. .

Its pretty nice inside and looks baller the cons to me were driving in it everyday becomes annoying because its so dam small and the trunk space is garbage, if i had a civic and an s2000 trust me i would be so happy but when i only had an s2000 i was dying to sell it because i couldn't do shit or take shit in the trunk. Anyone who talks shit about an s2000 though obviously has not driven one down a back road, everyone always talks about how fast it is but its not always about straight line performance to some of us, i bought my s2000 for HANDLING not for SPEED. Thats what it was built for if i remember correctly.

how about on a stock 85k mile clutch, oem tires, stock airbox, 2000, clutch dumping the shit out of it at 7500rpm and cutting a 1.89 60ft on the oem tires... Oh and unless speedworld is downhill than no. This was in May of 2007 BTW.

I don't really care if you believe me or not you can ask 2000ctr he saw it go down. There are others too...I've gone faster in a lot of cars than people "think" they can go. like 12.60's in an srt4 with 3" turbo back, intake, and wastgate actuator and DR's....same exact set up went 13.02 on the oem 205 street tires. Yet most stock turbo srt's barely creep past mid 13s and big turbo ones are still in the 12s :thumbsdown:

Went 13.60's in a bone stock 350z with ZERO time behind the wheel. I drove it from the staging lanes to the starting line that was it. My buddy (the owner) was stuck in the high 14s all day before that.

Went hi 11s in a bone stock 2005 viper srt10 and cut 1.7 60ft on the RUN FLATS when the owner couldn't break a 12.4

Most people can't get 13s because they are afraid to fry the clutch and can't figure out how to launch a car that doesn't make ANY power below 6,000 rpm. I on the other hand could care less about the clutch...

These cars WILL do 13s, there are at least 2 or 3 others in this thread that have stated they have also gone 13s in their stock s2k

Pros: Tons of fun, if you've done a track event or a canyon run in one, then you always want to go back. It sounds nice (mine does :D ) very nice tranny and clutch, looks really good esp with a stock lip. Feels like and is built for a purpose, Puts a smile on my face everytime I drive mine, and an even larger grin when I drive it hard.

Cons: Almost everyone seems to hate on it (ppl who don't own it) and think they can beat it. And what gets me the most is when they talk about how it's slow in a fast line....guess you have to get past straight line acceleration and numbers to realize what and why this car was made for.

The s2000 is a very nice car and quite fast for what it is. I own an 04 and haven't touched anything motorwise, just suspension, cosmetics and audio. One thing I DO KNOW is that a GAYlude would get owned by my stock s2k.....believe it. Yes, the trunk space/all around space does indeed SUCK BALLS!!!!! I still love my car though. People who wont put the top down even if your with your buddy sounds like they got insecurities about their sexuality?!?! Who cares what people think. I get compliemnts daily about how nice my car looks and compare it to the BMW.....which I extrememly dislike. Most people who hate are either A. jealous or B. like it in the butt:whip: the end

depends on who tech's you from what I've seen with the s2k. I'm 6'3" 180lbs & have no problem fitting into the s2k, my friend is 6' 250'ish & also fits him like a glove... it's a drivers car, not the easiest to get in/out of, but once your in, you just want to drive...

I think the resale value will go back up again because of the "fuel effiecient" craze. Even though it's not that effiecient, the fact that it's a 4 cyl will have ppl wanting it more than other cars in the price range
my turbo integra gets better gas mileage then the s2k :crazy: & yes it makes more power too...

I think any s2000 owner that likes to take turns too fast, needs to get falken azenis, nothing better for the money & it's night & day differences with these tires on this car.

My girlfriend bought a 2006 TL with Navi brand new a couple years ago after tax title it was 38000 but she put 20k down and paid it off last year, that TL was rated at 14.5 quarter mile stock not sure what the TL type S does. Anyway with the TL it is more a luxury car than race car, even though she raced my brothers stock s2000 and won.

i work at bell honda. . honestly, the s2k is one of the most dependable cars i've ever seen. . they never leak, nothing breaks. . the only thing i've seen break on them is maybe a motor mount

i hate convertibles but i love the S2K. but if i had to get one it would definitely be a hardtop. i test drove jan paul's. ap2. its super quick STOCK. i love it. if you could make it all motor with tuning up the suspension that thing will move like a BEAST.
