alright so when people write the compresion of pistons down, wtf do the numbers mean?

i want to put some higher compresion pistons in an LS block that i am building and want to understand what is going with the compresion portion.

any recomendations for stock pistons to put into an LS would be sweet too. i was told use b16 pistons??

lets use an example, 9:1
the ratio of the displacement of air/fuel mixture(compression stroke) between BDC and TDC of the piston

volume of air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber at BDC= 81cc
volume of air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber at TDC= 9cc

higher compression = more power
dont get too high

higher compression being high comp>lower comp???

so would b16 pistons in a LS be ok??

i guess yeah but it will take good tuning to run it right.
it also depend on the valve train setup

b16 pistons would work great, you will really like the power band...make sure you get a header that will be a little more combatible with the higher compression...a dc sport header aint gonna cut it

sweet does it need to be tuned like the dood above was saying? or can i just stick em in and have fun?

anyone have any b16 pistons??

tune em!

isn't it expensive too tune? would it be worth the money? it just a stock LS with b16 pistons

its worth the money if you dont want it to explode.

its required if your going to modify the compression ration that drastically.

Cost depends on the system

I personally recommend Hondata and Neptune.
You can find information regarding this two systems in Locash Racings forum in the Vendor section. He's the best honda tuner in town.

def tune it...you can never go wrong with tuning it...and with your set up i also say go with hondata or neptune...joe is the man!

i have some ITR pistons for sale. those pitons in a stock ls would take you to 11.67:1 compression compared to your 9.58:1 stock compression.
