the R18 motors certainly arent that fast, but they get really good gas mileage, better than the fit.

If you plan on modding...i wouldnt mess with the R18, good motor don't get me wrong...IMO, Save till you can get an Si. Theres really not one thing I dislike about the car. (there probably is but honestly cant think of anything right now :) ) The k20...the great handling...spaceship like interior...nice seats...6 speed. List goes on. I understand money may be an issue, if so you cant go wrong with an EX :)

R18 is good. Only complaint is the tranny and drive by wire system. I also hate the ABS.

I had an 06' 5spd civic lx which comes with the same r18 motor as the ex. that thing was ridiculously slow. ended up trading it for a pilot several months later. even the pilot is quicker than that lx civic.

no its a 140 hp based I-vtec. Its faster than your standered single cam civic.

I've owned both a four door si and lx. I really miss the si. The seats were comfortable, I loved the six speed and just the car overall. The lx is good for a dd because it gets really good gas mileage. I drive from 71st and lower buckeye to 7th street and glendale everyday and I only fill up once a week. If u can afford it get an si.

you want the plus and minuses between the r18 engine and the K20z3 engine? or the interior? appearance etc? as far as exterior you can always get them to look the same and fake the funk. Interior Si is better Black with red stitching and bucket racing seat (if you never sat on a racing seat to feel the difference!?! you should) Now what's under the hood hands down Si wins again. Price and Gas Mileage non-Si wins so it's up to your style and what you are willing to sacrifice.

I've recently bought an 07 SI. I have to say, I am a Honda fan. I went from an 04 Suby STI that was heavily modded to this slow Honda. I really have to say I like it. It does what it does every time. It has cheap mods available, a lot of people drive them that can help out with issues and it's a great all around car.

My car has 50k on the ticker and hasn't missed a beat. The only thing that sucks about it and that is also really good about it are the sun visors. They break easily but work nice.

I would recommend the SI over any other version/ flavor of Civic.

BTW- I get 32-33 mpg on the highway, consistently with my SI. I am a lead foot.

I found the Evo guys to be not quite as cool as the Suby guys. JMO. Plus the Suby is way tougher looking.

boosted r18 = just as fast if barley faster than stock/slightly moddes SI's.

my si with I/H/E/P/IMG/TBS/TBG ran 14.14 on stock tires, in LV just moved down here havent ran yet
