pulled over for tint and speeding =/

3 years of driving and my first time being pulled over, it was wide open streets and 2 or 3 cars and me were going fast (apparently 64 mph) and i got pulled over by a motorcycle cop. he said he noticed my tint first (registered at 17%), and got me for 64 in a 35 mph zone. ouch. So stupid too, I had no reason to speed. I wasnt racing or anything. Just kinda was cruising in the teg friday afternoon to cash my paycheck feeling good.

Now I have a court date 3/6/07 at 8:30 in the morning in peoria. Anybody wanna share their experiences with excessive speeding or tint? Any recommendations? This is my first time being pulled over and I feel like im fucked. Can I still do driving school even though it was a criminal offense?

I swear to God I'm having the worst luck with my car the past 2 months

it's your first offense so you can go to traffic school. boring as hell but it won't be on your record so no points. the price for the school is probably around the same amount the ticket will be. about the tint i have no idea.

the amount does depend on the city you get a ticket by...d00d that spot is notorious for catching people...so many people get tickets there i swear.my dad lives right by there and all the time people are getting pulled over.

they will prob do a visual inspection for your tint if you say you fixed it. i just paid my fine for it, $105 :(. paid it and still have my tint on, but now i watch out for cops a lot more. speeding.....your on your own there.

well u were speeding,29 miles over the limit? u were asking to get pulled over, worry only bout YOU. tint, i got pulled over in cali for that..118 dollar ticket. just get the tint redone or remove it. last, ur in a teg..cops arent dumb. u arent th last street racer he will pullover. more often then not, a street racer gots a warrant for not paying tickets, something illegal on his ride. ive been arrestd the last 2 times i got pulled over for racing. i knew i ran that risk, so when i got the cuffs, i didnt feel dumb or like the cop was fuckin with me. i knew i was breakin the law. take this as a lesson, and dont do it again. ur young, dont mess up ur record anymore. im 28, i regret all that stupid ass racing and tickets now. if your smart, ull listen and put it to use. drive safe!

No Driving School only if it is a civil traffic. On the plus you don't have to worry about going to tent city, i was told by the prosecutor back when i got pinched for 84 in a 40. You spend 24 hours in tent city for double or more the speed limit in Peoria. The fine for your speeding citation will be in the range of $360, for tint don't know how much the fine will be, but you can have as low as 30% on the front two windows(pass. & driver), and 0% on all rear glass. After I bought my last car in IL, I was literally like 2 miles away from the bridge that crosses over from IL to IA, I get stopped for window tints. I didn't even know I had window tinting on the car, but it turns out I did. I told the cop I JUST got it from a dealership so I got a $220 ticket just for having tint on my front two windows and my back window. I said I'd just remove them when I got back home in IA, and he said "Just to make sure, I'll help you remove them now" and thats what he did... started stretching off tint on the windows. The tint in the front windows legal limit is 35% and you can literally spray paint ur rear windows black and its legal just have to be at 35% on the fronts also if u do go below 35% dont limo the rears because they will make the fronts look hella dark

i got cited for illegal tint in that Mt. Lemmon run. 33% is legal I check the A.R.S. The fine in Pima County is 111 dollars, but can be reduced to 39 with a fix it ticket. Luckily I just went to my hearing today and judge threw it out along with speeding (10 over) and passing in a no passing. I had 5, yes, FIVE violations on one ticket but it got reduced since most of it was total BS. But i dont think you'd have any luck with the tint ticket, i even tried to get the shop that put it on to write me a fake BS ticket but they wouldn't budge.

As for the speeding, you can take Defesive Driving School, its different than Traffic Survival School. I was doing 85 in a 65 on the 202 and was able to take that option to erase the points. It was 120 to take the class.

A criminal moving violation cannot be expunged with a visit to traffic school; that only works for civil violations (less than 20 above the speed limit in Arizona). What I would suggest is going to your court date (which is only for you to either pay or set a real court date) and then go to that one and try to get the violation talked down to civil. Since this is your first time being pulled over in 3 years then you have a fighting chance, I'd say. Either way, good luck. You don't lose anything by going to court. It also gives more opportunities for the cop who pulled you over not to show (thus relieving you of your ticket).
