look at the vavle cover in the pic...you see tha the honda emblem is upside down if that is a K motor. if that is a header then the honda emblem is upside down

plus there is no oil cap in the first pic like there is in the second showing that the front of the head has a oil cap. hance it made me question the motor

Your right, i think thats the intake manifold!

EPthree04
03-08-2007, 09:57 PM
wow!! you guys that is the exhaust side. not intake. no intake mani would ever look like that!

YewllowDA
03-08-2007, 09:59 PM
hmmm.i think the design of header helps the "reversion" process.

header needs some kind of restriction but intake manifold needs to be the opposite

thats the exhaust side.....look at the pic closely, its not in any car its just sitting there and they took a pic of the header....its a K20 with a wicked header....

oh and by the way this IS in a car in the pic. its in a lotus elise. but still cannot figure out why the manifold is like that! fucking nuts looking. im sure it has a purpose but i havent figured it out yet.

EPthree04

its a rear setup. i dont know for a fact its in a lotus but someone that posted this on a different forum said it was in a lotus elise.

its a lotus, i believe its made by prototype enginering to be used with the k20 into an elise.

cool. so is it made like that for power reasons or just to keep the space tight??

It was made like that for power with that header and they made a im it made like 240 plus hp. I think I can't remember but it made good numbers if you go to the web site you will see the dyno graph I forgot the site

are you sure this is in a car? i mean you can see jack stands and cardboard on the ground?

any ways looks like you could use it either for a header OR a turbo manifold...cool looking...reminds me of a old school VDUB

I bet it was made for space saving.

i was going to say that....

probably ran into some clearance issues. also if you stretched out the header so it was a long straight header, you would see is would be crazy long. the longer distance there is for the exhaust to merge, the less turbulance there will be when it has to merge into the next collector.

i.e. 4-2-1, 4----2----1. better for flow

taggart_lumpy
03-10-2007, 02:42 PM
it actually not that crazy of a 4-2-1 design if you look at it again

i know this thread is prolly like 10 years old, but I just saw it. That is what is known as a tuned equal length header, which means that all of the primaries are the EXACT same length, down to the mm. There are about a thousand reasons for it, namely it creates the broadest tuning curve to work with you can get. They can be a FACTOR in large HP gains, however you have to consider the cost/benefit analysis...we were going to have a set made for one of our drag cars (truck actually) with a SBF 418, but them found out to have a set made, we were looking at right around $5200 a set. I'm like, "Hmmm...now I could spend 5K on a set of headers that might yield 60hp? or I could spend $1000 on a killer dp nitrous setup with progressive control and pick up 300-400 hp?...Hmmm...." So what did I do? Nothing. Went to Taco Bell and tried to put the entire idea out of my mind.
