Engine Bogging

I have a B20/vtec, tuned and what not, and tonight I was cruising on the freeway at 75 and I was noticing a really wierd bogging it was like the engine would make no power for a second and then all the sudden it would pull again. It felt like something was tugging on my car from behind, then when I got off it continued to act sort of strange, wasnt making power and kind of bogging. I check oil/coolant all that stuff it was fine.

So now Im thinking plugs, I just got new ones but they were NGK platinums... and I hate platinums and they could verywell be the problem I was just wondering if what I described could be plugs/wire/ignition.

i would say most def ingnition or possibly fueal related problem. i would check all the pulg wires and the cap for cracks. and make sure the rotor isnt all burnt up. you could even go as far as checking the resistance in the pulug wires as well. i have seen an igniter in the dizzy cause this same prblem as well! hope this helps!

cool thanks, ya Im gonna pick up some normal plugs and wires and check the rotor tomorrow. I was doing a bit more driving and I noticed it seems to just be a part throttle thing, itll be ok till 3 or 4k then it will get "stuck" for sec and seem to lose power. But if Im getting on it, I dont seem to have any issues

yeah but it will just keep getting worse. i think mine is the ignitor

that is in the distributer right? Lucky for me I need to pull mine off to do the seal anyways

sounds like ignition to me...but bought new plugs and it was fine..

ya Im gonna give plugs and wires a shot, idk y I got the platinums I have a DSM that had platinums in it and was running like complete ass, changed plugs and it was a whole new car. Also worked on a GTI for like 6 months couldnt get it to start, changed the PLATINUM plugs out and it fired up like it was never down. So idk Ill give it a shot

I was having da same problem but mine actually turned off and i had no spark... it was my Dizzy that fucked up so we rebuilt it its back to bein a beast again lol

ya Im hoping the ECU is ok Joe at locash was a bit concerned but it seemed to work ok. So far I have done the plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter and I still notice it also... maybe I will look into getting a new ecu

my friend got one for his B16 from checker and he said it was like 40 or 50 bux!

I don't think is the ignitor!!!! Check if yours still good before you go buy one!!! It might be the ecu but I don't know cuz you got a locash one!!! Try to use someone elses ecu for the day to see if still does it!!! You'll know if it was the ecu!!! I'm guna do the same thing change the ecu and just get a asfter market fuel pump!!!

thats a good idea as well. and if anyone you know has an extra dizzy you can borrow try that too!

well the problem isnt as bad as it was before so I think it was probably just a combonation of maintenance things, Im still waiting on plug wires then Ill see about the ECU and Igniter

We swapped mine out and it was the problem... had a spare dizzy just changed parts over

did ya make sure the A/C was off? lol my eh is a gutless turd with the a/c on. but im sure yer not that illiterate. just tryin to be funny. =P

my moms car had this problem for awhile. i just replaced the MAP sensor the other day and it runs perfect. its not a honda tho
