I'm guessing you got into music around 7-10 year old(guessing) so you weren't around to hear how complex rap was then and if you did you were to young to understand it... Hell kid you were 5 years old when Dre. Day came out, I'm sure your parents bought that album for you(LOL) Hell De La Soul's "3 Feet High and Rising" came out some time around your 3rd birthday... They may have changed their style to sell more records in their later years, but their early stuff was great(much better IMO then there later stuff)

Boogie Down Productions, " By All Means Necessary" was release before 89( the year you turned 3 years old... Look up "My philosophy if you have napster or itunes under KRS One...

Keep in mind back when these guys were rapping it was all freestylin & ground breaking

Try RUN DMC's "Peter Piper" & "Lory of Lyrics" not the greatest but you'll get the idea...

Check out some Ice-T's early stuff from Power (released 1988) "The Iceberg" & "Ryhme Pays" & "Somebody's got to do it(Pimpin aint easy)" Don't forget "Colors"

You should realize by now most of the stuff out there now is all been done twenty years ago...
