what is azht's opinion on tinted windows

I know the tintless bubble look or fish bowl or whatever you call it is all in the jdm craze and nothing looks fresher than oem glass BUT we live in the arizona sunshine and it puzzles me how people deal with no tint.

guys who rock the fish bowl, is it that bad? i am considering taking my tint off.

personally, i dont always follow or agree with the car treands. sometimes u got to do what u feel is right. it gets RE-GADDAM-DICULOUSLY hot over here. youd be a fool to take ur tint off. ive been to the far east, it gets hot, HUMID hot. so riding without tint isnt too bad. out here, u need to have tint. ull notice the difference. i think its dumb to not have tint out here in AZ. jut my opinion.

Ive been pondering this for the new car...has shitty tint anyways so either way its coming off. The question is to re-tint, or leave it off. I think I am just going to roll this nasty tint job for now because it gets the job done. Especially because if all goes as planned, I wont be DDing it come fall.

I could not daily drive with no tint, too used to limo all around. Not to mention sooooo much fading of your interior.

limo tint all the way, saves my pasty irish self from getting burned, keeps the stuff inside my car safe from prying eyes (to a degree) AND looks good. :)

Removing something that serves an important functional purpose and can save your interior from premature wear for a simple catch phrase seems kind of silly to me. It's like someone telling me to roll around without sunglasses because it was "mad tyte JDM." Screw cataracts and future vision loss, you gotta roll in the "fishbowl."

I can see taking it off if its bubbly or some strange color like yellow or red, obviously at that point it becomes more of hindrance to visibility then anything, But to scrape off perfectly good tint because its somehow become popular doesn't quite click the old neurons for me.

But then again people have done sillier things.

I got my windows tinted for a few reasons. First was the heat. It does help with the sun and it also helps with those fuckers in the SUV's whose lights shine right into my rear window. Also it keeps people from being able to see everything in my interior.

Making through the cold weather is easy, but summer its hot. You can a good tan with no tint. No joke.

If you fishbowl it in the summer and think its way too hot, just tint it.

I have no tint, not by choice, but my car is black, so it gets hot with or without tint. I rock my windows down most of the time so I could give a shit. If I tinted my windows not only would my paint be 100 degrees, but when I lean on my windows, my skin will melt too.

I roll with no tint because whenever I'm driving it there isn't much sun. So I much prefer the clearer visibility. Plus I have A/C so I just blast that on and I'm fine. Everyone is so quick to assume people do it as a trend, just personal preference. I'm still looking into getting the clear/blue hue tint like on Mercedes, sort of a polarized film that still gives it a clear look but actually keeps out more UV/heat than tint.

As far as theft goes, everyone states 'get tint so no one sees what you have'...knowing that, I would think "I wonder what he's hiding". Can't win either way.

I love the look that tint gives a car. I have 5 or 10 % on my crx and it keeps the car quite a bit cooler in the sun than without.

I have limo on my hatch because the A/C works and it works so much better with tint. My lude doesn't have tint because...........no A/C and excessive rolling up and down of the windows, like when you dont have air, tends to eff up the tint.

If i had lived somewhere else than az, i would take my tint off. But its hotter than anywhere else in the summer so limo tint is useful. The downside of limo tint is at night, you lose visibility and the chances of being pulled over are greater for having tint too dark.

exactly what i was gonna post. every car i've owned the first thing i do is bring it in to get tinted. i usually do 20%, but i think that now living in AZ i am going to do 5% for the first time. i actually like the tint at night because looking through the rearview mirror normal w/tint you can spot crown vic headlights easier than looking back through a "tilted" (night view) rearview mirror w/no tint.

also, i just bough an AZ car that has had no tint since 1993 and the top of the door pannels are all cracked and such from no tint. just another reason to get tinted.
