What type of welder are you using? MIG? TIG? and are you using a shielding gas?
My tip,
Porosity is caused by inadequate shielding gas, wind can blow away the shielding gas, your nozzel could be broken or have shit built up in it. Or to much gas flow.
Also make sure the area your working with is very clean! prep is the key to good welding.

Its an arc welder, im not using any shielding gas. I scrubbed it pretty good with a wire brush before welding the nut... down to the bare metal, the surface was cleaned with brake cleaner.
Do you think soldering the weld may seal it up? Or throwing some locktite on it?

Holy Gees!! arc welder. Thats your problem. Not saying you cant use it but you have to make sure you have the right electrode for what your welding on. And arc welding is a pain in the ass. If its giving you that much trouble PM me and I can fix it for you.
