How do you guys drive?

I rev-match every downshift, and heel-toe everytime I drive... I like to drive spiritedly otherwise I get bored...

IF I'm in granny mode I'll coast up to a light in neutral and shift at 2500rpm every shift.

Damn that sucks.

I used to live about 5 minutes away from work.

Now I have to drive 24 miles to get to work. My gas bill has almost double. :( Sucks.. but meh.. if I get the job in Idaho.. I'll be able to walk to work. :) Which == More fun money for the neon.

I'm an extremely patient driver and I will sit behind someone on the freeway for miles if there is nowhere else to go. No sense in forcing something when you're gonna get around them eventually anyway.

~30mpg auto Z6 for the daily. It works :P

You get used to it... I taught myself in a matter of minutes... I used to get cramps in my feet but not anymore.

Honda pedal spacing also doesn't make it any easier.

I taught myself how to drive manual in a few min.
In the first week of driving stick I had rev-matching and heel-toe perfected.

and wtf is heel toe?

Braking while rev-matching... both feet using all 3 pedals at once.

Left foot on the clutch, right toes on the brake and right heel on the gas to blip the gas on a downshift.

Yeah, heel-toe is difficult depending on the car. I can't get it for the life of me in my project car...fuckin pedals are spaced for asian-sized feet and I got size 13s. I can do it, but I have to tilt half my body to do it if I want to sit in the right position...probably gonna have to move the pedals around :(

YewllowDA

i can do it at stock pedals and i wear size 12......

i can do it at stock pedals and i wear size 12......If you've ever driven a del Sol, you know my pain. The compartment for the pedals is small as it is, and I think the people who owned it before me put the pedals in the wrong position when they did the auto-to-manual swap =/

YewllowDA
04-20-2007, 01:58 PM
never been in a del sol before, but ill try if i been to one..
i guess i can see it now...

i 2 step at every light, hit full boost all the time, redline in all gears and do all wheel drive drifts around corners, i also like to cut off old lady's and give people the finger. i also leave my hazards on all the time for the win!

what is the benefit of heel toe?

On a track your supposed to get all your braking and downshifting done before entering a turn... This way you can do two things at once and idealy shave some time off a lap.

Watch their feet...

Big no-no because it'll usually land your ass in the gravel haha

Downshifting while blipping the gas so the car doesn't jerk when going into the lower gear. It's easier on the gearbox than slowly letting the clutch out when downshifting... I.e. engine braking. Also helps because right when you downshift it puts you right into the powerband normally... If your at the meet tonight I can take you out in my car and show you... Just find me and my EF.

I rev match when i downshift but dont usually do it unless i'm taking a corner at a high rate of speed. I heel toe if i have to but its a lot more difficult in the VW rather than my EK. I need to adjust the peddles but i'm lazy..

if im cruising, 2-3k rpms. if im going in the freeway, i take it up to like 4k rpms and them i try to do the speed limit. unless ofcourse some idiot wants alil taste of my pimp hand and i whopp that ass on the freeway.

thats how i do it all the time i have big feet and dont have room to swing my heel over to hit the gas, there was only one car i have had that i could use my heel it was a BMW cuz the gas pedal is mounted to the floor.

Lazieb29
04-20-2007, 05:21 PM
its pretty much for the times when you need an extra foot.. so you use your right heel to rev match while down shifting and while you hit the brake with your toes.
