pro about the quick release is that it makes it harder for thieves to take the car.CON is you gotta walk around witha steering wheel.

It doesn't necessarily make it harder to steal your car, since I'm sure a lot of thieves carry around wheels with them, but they do have to match the hub which will make them have to work a little harder to get your car.

For street cars, the pros are mainly in the security aspect of having one, but like he said you do have to carry a steering wheel or a bag for one around with you lol

all good, i'd rather walk around with my steering wheel than walk home without it or my car.

actually, i was kinda of asking more about its functional pros and cons and if they are adaptable with sparco/mugen/momo steering wheels.

it's listed in ebay as "NRG 88-95 CIVIC STEERING WHEEL QUICK RELEASE SHORT HUB". is this incorrect?

yes quick release short hub, as in a short hub so ur wheel doesnt stick in ur gut, note the white plastic piece at the bottom, and does it looks 2 pieces to u? not to me...

oh ok, i see what your saying. i checked out another pic of one all put together. now, can i use any steering wheel with an NRG quick release (i.e. sparco, mugen, etc)?

You say that now, but after the 10th old lady at Walmart stopping you cause she thinks your stealing a damn steering wheel, you'll learn to hide it somewhere in the trunk or something.

One time my car was getting towed after a parking violation, I put the lock on the steering wheel just to piss off the tow company.

I had the regular NRG quick release and Sparco wheel on my old sol. I was quite happy with it, but in searching for a new one, I would definetly go with the short hub.

Functionality was same as normal. Easier to put in trunk of sol though w/ no trunk release and walk away feeling safe. Still debating for my hatch

Momo and Nardi/ Personal Hub/ bolt patterns are slightly different.

you can use a Momo type Hub if you purchase a Nardi ring adapter to bolt up a Nardi or Personal steering wheel.

or you can get the NRG hub and quick release whick have both patterns on them.

and I think Mugen and Spoon use Momo Hub patterns?

Not hard, very easy in fact.

1. Take off your SRS Airbag, with two Torq screws, one on each side, I forget what size, I think T50? " Make sure to disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes prior to this. This step will discharge the reserve SRS deployment capacitor. you dont want a 200mph bag filled with marble dust thrown in your face.

2. One the bag is pulled out very slowly disconnect the SRS yellow flat connector. this will enable you to take the bag out of the vehicle.

3. Now you should be able to see the 17mm nut thet hold the wheel on. Make sure your car is striaght and your wheel is also straight. Take the nut off and pull your whel off. You will use the 17mm nut with your new Hub.

4. Disconnect your clock sping, because most people dont know how to utilize this with there new hubs. Your on your own on this step, but im sure youll figure it out.

5. Install your Quick release on your wheel and hub " losely " and perform a practice fitment and line-up. Once everything looks good. Install your hub the way it was when your wheel was straight. Then the Hub side of your quick release.

6. Slide your wheel on and you should be good.

Side note.

NEVER TAKE YOUR STEERING WHEEL OFF WHILE DRIVING! WHILE YOU MAY SEE THIS ON MANY VIDEOS, A SLIGHT ALIGNMENT ISSUE WILL SURELY THROW YOUR VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD, AND THERE IS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH LEVERAGE TO STEER YOU VEHICLE SAFELY WITH JUST THE HUB.

Hope this helps you out.

ps. the NRG lock out can be pryed off with a screwdriver. dont bother.

good call.. the short hub is just the mounting piece.. that piece or a long hub will be needed to run the quick release hub.. any steering wheel should work.. just make sure you order the short/long hub for your specific car.. personally, i run the long hub because it puts the steering wheel in a better area for me to control the car during cornering and such.. many road racers weld extensions on to their stock steering hubs for this same reason.. good luck..
