complete tube chassis...built 4g63....owner plans on revving to 11k, gt45 or gt47r turbo 14.5" wide tires...32" tall.....
all done by 3 guys in a garage.....I'll post WAY more pics tomorrow...its supposed to be getting out of the paint booth and he's gonna post up its most current state, body complete, parachute, full suspension set up etc....

Is brent rau's 6second eclipse. no longer an eclipse? Because its tube chassis???? Its still powered by a 2.0 4g63 with boost alone. it still has the "appearance" of an eclipse....its not like a funny car or top fuel car that you can't even tell what it is.

Are you saying that because AMS puts a 42r on their evo....it is now modified, but they could have done it with a concord...so its not really an evo anymore.
Or how about their autocross car that they cut the roof out of to save weight....is this no longer an evo???

I may have to agree with cheesfries on this one. Maybe it's because I don't like drag cars, or maybe its because the vehicle is no longer an EVO. No AWD, no longer has the chassis of an evo, and could never be registered for use on public roads. To me its no longer an EVO, its a tube chassis with Evo body panels welded to it.

It is a pretty sweet drag racer. But like I said I don't particularly like Drag cars because they really where never ment to do anything but go in a straight line.

I see you're opinion. it does look like an EVO on the exterior, and uses an Evo motor as its basis.


But I cannot agree with your opinion. To me atleast, save the roof,exterior body panels and motor(although it is no longer mounted transversely,) there's nothing on that car that makes it an EVO.

The drive train layout, suspension and chassis are all gone. If I had a wrecked S2000, took the motor, put it in a miata, and molded S2k Body panels onto it, should I excpect people to call it an S2000? Would you? They've removed bits and pieces of major subcomponents that where engineered and designed to work together as a whole.

That vehicle could could probably go down the track just the same with a chopped up body of a WRX on top of it But I wouldn't call it a Subaru. Just like I don't think a V-6 rear wheel drive tube-chassis drag car that resembles an EK hatch should be considered a civic.
