i have freinds that smoke at work, now if we take a break together, we have to stand 20ft from the door to talk, which puts us somewhere in the middle of the parking lot.

i am also required to ask people to move futher from the door because they fall within the 20ft buffer zone of the door...

when i go to a pool hall i expect there to be smoke, it is part of the atmoshpere...kind of a dark, depressing place, now its totally clear, and too clean...

this is arizona (one of the most conservative states), i can carry my gun on my side, in my car, into a restaurant, but i cannot smoke within 20ft of a doorway...

i voted against this measure just on its absurd nature, i do understand the dangers of second hand smoke, but people that work in industries where there is smoke i.e. casinos, restaurants, bars, make good money, and it is part of the job...

anyway...might be a bad argument on my part, but tobacco built america, now were going to turn our backs on it...

i voted no for this even though i dont smoke.but it doesnt effect me because i'm never by anyone who does anyway but i did work at a bar/restaurant and people would drink beer & smoke at the bar which they can't anymore.they have to smoke outside...and for regular business's they have to be 20 feet from the entrance.

it should not be part of your job to subject yourself to cancer causing substances. i could understand maybe if you work with chemicals as a part of your job or something, but just because you work in a public, customer service enviornment job shouldnt mean you have to deal with that shit.

anyway...might be a bad argument on my part, but tobacco built america, now were going to turn our backs on it...

that may be PARTIALLY true .... but

1. people smoked or chewed STRAIGHT tobacco back in the day, not Tar and all the 8483 other chemicals they put in modern day tobacco products.

2. doctors and people did not know the harmful effects of smoking/chewing tobacco back then, nor did they know how bad it was going to get when all the bullshit go added in to make cigarettes "better"

i am not a regular ciggie smoker, but i agree with what was said by teemfedx, tobacco smoke contributes the the atmosphere of many bars, restaurants, pool halls, etc.

If you don't like being around cigarette smoke, why don't you go to church on friday nights and pray for your lungs instead of going to a goddamn bar and complaining. fuckin pansys. mankind has puffed smoke since the dawn of time and all of a sudden it's sooo dangerous we can't stand it. go home if it bothers you.

I'm all for it, thank god it passed. Why anybody even starts smoking in the 1st place in there life is beyond me.

Smoking is a choice people make, just like the law was a choice people made, It didn't effect me enough to care so I didn't vote.

It reminds me of this girl we used to hang out with, she was the only person out of a group of 8-10 people who smoked, she would BITCH and MOAN everytime we went to a restaurant because we always sat in the non-smoking section. Even though 80% of the group made it clear they didn't want to sit in the smoking section she would drone on endlessly how unfair it was that we weren't allowing her to light up whenever she felt like it. Then she tried to play the pity card on us by saying:" If I have to leave the table to smoke, I don't get to be with my freinds..." Well booh fucking hooo, have some self control and wait till dinner's done to go suck on your cancer stick.

It's going to hurt small buisness owners, I can see that already, but IMO they should have put up more of fight or have been better organized themselves if they wanted to seriously oppose it.

you would have to stand next to a smoker (within about 3 feet) for pretty much at least one third of your natural life consistantly to die prematurely of second hand smoke.

do you really go to bars that much?

Not a proven fact. They do an experiment on that with a REAL human?

they have done studys on kids who grow up and live in homes with consistant smokers or nonsmokers who live with spouses who are consistant smokers (which would be equivilant to standing around them all the time) and they make judgements as to how harmful secondhand smoke is by comparing the juniors lungs to the parents lungs or by the wifes lungs to the husbands, etc. and that is about how bad it is for you.

i.e. second hand smoke (in terms of being actually seriously harmful to your health) is BS unless you are all up in their grill 24/7.

and if you dont like to be around smokers, you arent.

I personally beleive they could have done it another way, we require liquour licenses for restaurants and bars to serve alcohol, a similar process should have been created to allow for smoking. Either that or limit smoking sections to those over the age of 18. By then you are legally considered an adult and should be able to make your own educated decisions. This way children are not submitted to second hand smoke by their parents or other adults. And then instead of limting smoking to outdoors, limit it to indoors only where the smoke can be contained and filtered, and people who don't want to be exposed to it can chose not to enter.

i believe people should be legally be considered an adult at 16, seeing thats when they let us have a drivers liscense, thats a big responsibility. or change the driver liscense age to 18

i am a manager of a tucson strip club.....and i love the law. i dont come home every night smelling disgusting and blowing black crap out of my nose. it hurt business for about a week, and all the smokers realized that they will have to deal with it or stay home with the wife. i have 2 friends using the law to help them quit, since smoking in bars seems to be the hardest thing to beat. AZ seems to be on CAs nuts all the time and they have had these laws for a long time. everyone out there has long since gotten use to it.

i was standing in a group of about 6 smokers and 1 other non-smoker. the smokers were all bitching about the dumb law. it eventually came up that none of them voted, while the other non-smoker and i both did.

rant fail. suck it up.
