this type normally goes for i believe around $600 msrp.. but any shop should be able to get you a smoking deal on it.. some people will say custom cage is the way to go but if you dont have the week or two weeks it takes for custom, this is definitely better for you.. plus it is NASA/SCCA approved..

w0rd man, gotta love the nasa/scca approval something my Cusco doesn't have last time I checked. Have you considered welding it into the car? or is it more of a remove it when you don't need it sort of thing?

it is bolted in permanently.. i may in the future weld it in but i am going to make some modifications to my rear panels and see about getting those back in the car.. until i decide which way i am going with the back panels.. i will remain with bolt in..

you are right about your cusco bar, it is not approved by NASA/SCCA but does look good and style points are wonderful sometimes.. its sad that a product made by such a reputable company like cusco doesnt meet NASA/SCCA specs.. if it was accepted, they would probably sell like crazy..

Yeah, it's just how the rear tubes have to be in there because of the car itself and the rules regarding it. For a sol you basically have to go custom for it to be approved, and even then it is tricky as hell because of the rear window and how you have to go through there to get the required angle on the rear tubes. Also, the Cusco doesn't come with the required 6"x6" mounting plates, though that part can easily be fixed. But the Cusco is more of a novelty piece as it is. Rare as hell (even though you can still get them) so it gets mad JDM points and such.

I'm more of a fan of the function though, so a custom cage is ahead for me a couple years from now. If you want some insight on cutting up some panels to go around cages, I have an HT thread about putting a cage in a del sol bookmarked. The guy did a great job cutting up the rear plastics and making it look OEM again after the cage was in. Might give you some ideas on how to do yours

well, i will be road racing this car in 2 weeks.. was supposed to happen over the weekend but just ran out of time to get everything ready..

would you still be able to put in the rear interior and such?

with some modifications to the rear interior, yes it can still go in.. however, i will not be putting the seats back in.. i am going to try and modify the side panels so that they can go back in.. we will see how well it works..

wouldnt it be, new addition.

probably so but its too late to change the title.. if you want to change it for me, have at it..
